i have two towns. i always play my oldest town, but if i dont feel like playing in my other town i'll just tt back to the date i last played and continue from there.
I've had a second cartridge for awhile, but I was only using it as a cycle town. I would play through it for 2 to 3 weeks, then reset it. I just yesterday reset it for use as a serious second town. Now that I know a lot about the game, I can make this town better from day one.
im currently have 2 towns but my 1st town is still far from finish. im planning to get another copy once i finished my first town. lol im crazy about AC as well
I have five, four real towns and a cycle/trading town between two systems (1 download each plus 2 carts I play in my xl and one I play in my normal 3ds)
As much as I love all of my towns (they're all very different) I don't have the energy or time to play all of them at once. So what I do is rotate them (except the cycle town, that I play as I feel like it any time because the date and move outs don't matter there).
I'll play one town for a month or two or even more sometimes til I feel happy with what I've achieved in it for the moment, or til I start to miss the villagers in one of my other towns then I stop playing the town I've been playing on a day when someone pings me to move and I've denied them. I use the game notes feature to note down what that date is in case I need to get something from that town or use the catalog or visit for signatures or get perfect fruit, but I'm careful to never use that town except on the date it's "locked" on until I'm ready to actually play it again and that way no one will have moved. Once I decide to play it again I just set it to the real date and go talk to everyone and deal with them acting like I forgot them for however long I'd been away then that first day back someone will be planning a move so you have to be careful to catch it but once you do you can get back to business as usual.
It sounds complicated but it's really not too bad once you get used to it. I'm very careful about keeping my villagers spoken to and happy so they always ping or tattle on each other when someone's trying to escape and to date I've never had a random move out even wit not playing for months at a time.
This method works because only one villager can be planning to leave at one time so if you've denied someone wanting to leave no one else can want to until at least the next day when you load the new day.
I tried to play two or three towns at a time for a while and found that I wasn't really PLAYING them I was just doing maintenance and it wasn't very enjoyable, I had like my daily list to get through in each and by the time I was done I was out of time for fun stuff like fishing or bugging or island tours or running errands for villagers and it got to be more of a chore than an enjoyable experience. When I rotate them I can really play them while I'm playing them and it's been much more manageable and fun again.
I play a lot for a couple days, then I forget about the game for weeks. Rinse and repeat. Sometimes that cost me a dear villager (rip Ankha), but it's how I like to play.
I only have one town, btw. I don't see the point in having multiple towns.
I game on NL and on CF. my CF town is basically never touched. I drop in on occasion if I feel like it and play a bit but it's my "whatever" town. NL town is my baby.
