For anyone who doesn't remember me, I'm that guy who has the obsession with Lyman the koala and was devastated by his moving from my village and leaving a koala-shaped hole in my heart. If not that, I'm also the guy who Olivia sent the dress to, insisting I dress up for her. In any case, I recently went on a two-week trip to Japan. It was awesome over there, but I also took my DS for the sweet, sweet streetpass action. I came to discuss the results of my trip in regard to this game, but first I'd like to ask how long we've had an outpost in Japan? Because I found this just outside the Amerikamura district of Osaka.

(The barista didn't look like Brewster, but he was more than happy to Irish my coffee)
If anyone would like to know more about the trip or has questions about travelling Japan in general I'd be happy to answer, but I'll return to the point of this thread.
So while travelling I had my DS on for the streetpass function, and let me tell you that it is simply GOLD. At the conclusion of my trip, I have the following:
> My HHA Showcase is completely full of the houses of Japanese mayors with rare furniture that I have been purchasing for my home (got a full set of rococo furniture in the space of three days)
> Halfway through my trip Chief moved in from one of the Streetpassed addresses, telling me he'd come from a Japanese town that I can't read. His last mayor's name was Mio and he tells me that he still dreams of her
> I lost Elmer and Rocket during my trip, so they are more than likely enjoying a new life in the town of Japanese players
> My villagers suggested a lot more Zen items for town, meaning I have a little Japanese area in my town now, including a temple bell (I saw quite a few of those, especially when I stayed in the Buddhist monastery overnight)
Since I returned:
> Kyle moved in, randomly bringing my town's wolf level to a total of three (Lobo, Chief, Kyle)
But best of all...
> I finally bumped up the number of departed villagers, AND LYMAN NOW REGULARLY APPEARS IN MY MAIN STREET
***
The birds chirped happily as they hopped around the slowly drying puddles of main street, autumn winds carrying orange and red leaves to make little boats on their surface. Craig idly watched one from his spot near the Able Sisters shop, the mayor of Rapture taking a break from his morning chores. It was a beautiful time of the year. The tree in the event plaza had started to lose it's leaves, the top of the tree skeletal in preparation of a winter hibernation. Feeling a small nip in the breeze, Craig's thoughts turned to preparing for winter. He'd never seen snow, with the exception of Mount Fuji in the distance during his mission abroad. It had been tough, but then it had been worth it. The temple bell rang out from near the lighthouse, Craig stepping away from the wall and walking to the rail. It could have been Chief or Anicotti, both near the bell as the peal rang out over the harbour. He smiled in satisfaction. The red wolf, in many ways, was something else he'd brought back from his mission abroad. And Rapture had adopted him as their own. At first he had been quiet and subdued, removed from Mio. Craig knew exactly how he felt, having been in similar states before... especially after Lyman left. After that one, Craig had shut himself in his house for years. He knew that gnawing loss all to well, and he had endeavoured not to let Chief feel that way. He'd talked to him, introduced him to everyone... and now the wolf seemed content here. The thought was balming, soothing. In many ways it helped Craig with his own demons, knowing he steered someone else away from such a hell.
"Have a good trip, chips?"
The voice behind him caught him off guard, bringing him back to reality. It was an all-too familiar one. One he hadn't thought he'd hear again. At first, he'd thought it was his mind playing tricks on him again, like it used to. A shadow with great woolly ears stretched past his feet. This wasn't his mind... this... this couldn't be...
The mayor of Rapture spun around to see his old friend standing in main street. Lyman the bodybuilding koala. Same cocky smirk, same green club tee. Craig took that one step towards the koala.
"LYMAN! YOU SON OF A-"

But anyway, I'd like to talk more about Streetpass and how amazing a resource it actually is. Because tactically I can now buy some of the more rare furniture off of people who have diligently collected it themselves. It is incredibly handy! Does anyone here take advantage of Streetpass?
