I really don't think getting a second a copy is a bad deal. I mean it's only $80 combined, for which you can get multiple hours of gameplay. And compared to full price games on PS3 or PS4 which cost $60 and only last about 20 hours, its a really good deal, and you can explore multiple way of gameplay.
ITT: people who don't realize there are those who have more than two copies
I have four. If you want to cycle, go for it. If you want to build a second town, go for it. It's your money. You might feel a bit of buyer's remorse, but once you cross the abyss into four+ copies, you become immune and cannot feel.
I really want the Sailor Moon proplica moon stick, but it's $90-something. I'm earning some extra money this month so I'm going to do it because it's important to me. I don't buy that many "toys" but the ones I do are very special to me. I've saved a lot of money by trying to be more selective and not buy a bunch of stuff that's just going to collect dust. So to one person, it's an overpriced sailor moon toy, or an "extra waste of money animal crossing"? to someone else the amount of enjoyment you'll get from it is worth it.
I actually download Skyrim + Dawnguard DLC on Piratebay (sorry Bethesda no money lol) so I know how you feel. But in order for Nintendo to survive and make quality games is for us to buy their products. It's okay to buy another one of the same product because you really enjoy it, and at the same time, support Nintendo as well.
Personally, I'd feel like crap buying a second copy, because I'm not in a position to do so. Not only that, I wouldn't actually need a second town for any reason, and I'm not as dedicated to the game as others are (though I do have my obsessive moments).
If you have the money, have nothing else you need to pay for, and feel like you'll get something out of a second copy, then enjoy it.
I got my second copy yesterday and plan to play it as a second town (not cycling or anything).
I'm currently enjoying it and I don't feel it was a waste.
I had thought about it for a long time before I really decided I wanted a second copy. I felt a little buyers remorse since there's a game coming out at the end of this month that I want as well, but there's always new games coming out I want lol
I think my feeling of guilt hasn't stayed because I've been playing the game as I would if I only had one copy, so I'm enjoying it just as much.
I'm not the type of person who steals games if I can't afford them either, so I'll wrangle up some money for the game at the end of the month eventually.
If you want it, it's not a waste. I mean, what other games would you buy that can top animal crossing? As long as you enjoy it and play it, it's always worth it. It's better than buying something else you don't really want as much and then keep thinking, "damn, I should've just bought my second copy of animal crossing." Because that has crossed my mind many times. I've always wanted to restart my town (I never have) because I don't have the guts to lose all the work I put into it, all those months playing, getting all my dreamies, PWPs, bells, rare items, and everything. But I really hate my character's eyes and my town map, I think I have like more than 5 stones and they're at the ugliest places too, and I have a lot of dead grass/soil area where I can't plant trees, and I have like 4 mini river or is that called lake I don't know but it's pretty much the ****tiest town map ever and it was my first option. I was such a noob so I just did whatever. And then as I developed more into the game, I realized how ****ty it is but still don't have the heart to restart. :c So my only way is probably getting a second copy and restarting, without losing my older one, you know? But yeah, it's just me.
