and I've been playing since launch!

Holy cow, it was SO nice not standing around for long stretches hoping for ONE shooting star, lol. It was odd, though, no Celeste anywhere.

I also had almost no showers since release- I've only ever had one! I was in the same boat too, no Celeste to be found. I'm not positive she comes during the weekend!

I get them on most clear nights.

They aren't all announced. :)

congratulations! either you rarely play at night or you are extremely unlucky (though i think i have heard that some meteor showers are guaranteed, not sure exactly how true that is but yeah) to not have had one until just now.

i find that it's not very often that isabelle will say there is a meteor shower, but there will still be a few shooting stars and celeste might show up on a lot of clear nights. hope this helps you find more meteor showers in the future

Congratulations!

Only heavy meteor showers (frequent streams of meteors, 5-8 stars per minute) are announced by Isabelle, assuming there are no other special announcements (e.g. campsite visitor, someone moving in/out, etc.) On these nights, villagers will also mention it in conversation if you talk to them at night.

Heavy meteor showers also do not guarantee Celeste visiting -- she can visit an island once per week as a maximum, on nights after 7 PM with either light or heavy meteor showers. She can be hard to find sometimes, though, so definitely do a few rounds around the island on nights where the skies are clear.

Edit: Celeste also does not visit on Saturdays when you have a meteor shower because of K.K. Slider's concerts.

Meteor showers that are announced by Isabelle or Tom Nook seem quite rare... I've only had 2, plus a couple of extra nights with shooting stars, which was cool :)
They're quite fun to watch, especially since I've never seen a legit meteor shower (though I did see one shooting star before on a particularly starry night in a particularly dark area of the state. Only one I've ever seen in my life, but it was quite mesmerizing)

congratulations!! an occasional shooting star or two on some nights seems a bit common but unfortunately, ‘official’ meteor showers that get announced by isabelle seem to be really rare! i’ve been playing since launch and i’ve only had 2 meteor showers so far aha.

i’m glad you got to experience one, though! they’re really cool and i hope you’ll be able to experience more of them in the future! :)

Grats! Glad you were able to get a good heavy meteor shower! Just as a matter of interest I've learned that 20 stars is the maximum you can get the next day, but making extra wishes never hurts :)

You can get up to 20 stars per player on your island. Each player has to make 20 wishes. You can also get up to an additional 20 more stars if you open your gates and visitors make a 100 wishes total. One extra star fragment for every 5 wishes made by a visitor.

Oh! That last part explains why I got so many stars last time! :D That's good to know, I will probably open my gates again on the next shower too then :D

Thanks so much for this info, it's most appreciated :)
