i got caroline in my campsite today, the adorable squirrel that i've dreamed of having for ages now. got her to move in, my plan was to then kick out etoile with butch's amiibo card and then kick out rooney to replace him and etoile with butch and caroline.

i have my town covered in QR codes so that i can control where my villagers move. only thing is that there was a spot right where i had planted lots of bushes and trees, and where i had just finished a dirt path project. caroline decided to plop her house RIGHT there, and i was so frustrated that i just wanted to curl up in a ball on my floor. her house too is like the cutest one i've seen and it would've fit my town so well :(

i tried my best not to be sad about not having caroline in my town after all, and kicked her out with butch. my plan was to then keep etoile and have rooney move out ASAP. only thing is, that butch decided to then put his house in the same spot that caroline did. so there couldn't have even been any way for me to control his house placement, since right after caroline leaving, his plot was there.

i don't know what to do now. i'm so frustrated. i love this game but i this just makes me so hopeless :(

any similar experiences?

Oh no that sounds awful! I'm really sorry that this happened to you :,,,,(

I haven't had this experience with a villager that I really liked but I've definitely had this happen to ,e, before and after the amiibo update. Even using the reset trick it was tricky. Villagers that I wanted to move in would constantly try to move in on top of my paths, and it would take me hours to reset enough that they would choose a decent spot to move in. One time I had Marshal randomly move into my town on top of a path that went to a narrow (land) walkway to my house, which made it very difficult to get to my player's house without wiggling my way around his house.

Even after the update I've had villagers being stupid like that. I have QR paths everywhere so they don't move near them anymore, but one time I had Frank as a random move in and he moved right into the small area with pink flowers/bushes/trees right in front of Re-Tail. I was so upset cause I had to kick him out and re-landscape that area. Luckily I don't have to deal with that anymore because I have all the villagers that I want in my town now :)

I feel your pain. I have been in a similar situation. I had Anicotti show up in my second town back when it was just a weeding town. She was my best friend back on the GameCube and I didn't realize how much I missed her until I saw her walking around on my loading screen. I decided to cycle her out of my weeding town and into my main town.

It worked perfectly...except I missed a spot placing patterns around my already landscaped zen garden. Of course, instead of plotting in the open area I had planned for her, Anicotti put her house down right in the middle of my landscaping.

I thought about giving up on her, but she's not a very popular villager, so I looked online and was able to buy her Amiibo card for a really cheap price. Maybe you could do the same with Caroline?

Once her Amiibo card arrived, I used Yuka's card to kick Anicotti out. But, like you experienced, Yuka kept wanting to plot in the same spot as Anicotti and I couldn't block it with patterns because Yuka's plot appeared immediately after Anicotti left. I had to plot reset many times by creating a new character to see where Yuka's plot was and logging off without saving if it wasn't in the right spot. I spent at least an hour doing this, maybe longer, before Yuka finally put her house where I wanted. Then, I had to make sure I saved with her in that spot, so that meant putting down a new character's house over more of my landscaping. I saved my house in the spot Anicotti had already destroyed, but my house took up more room than hers.

After that, I deleted the new character and placed patterns all over the area I had just vacated. Then, I used Anicotti's card to kick out Yuka and she went into the right spot on the first try. I had to redo my landscaping, but I got the villager I wanted in the spot I wanted. It was a very long and frustrating process.

yeah, i thought about that and found her for pretty cheap from a uk seller, but shipping from overseas to finland takes ages, and i just want to be done with my town. if only i had done the second player trick ;;

i guess i'll just try to find other villagers to replace her. how frustrating though! i just wanted a cute squirrel :(

(also, anicotti is so cute! she was my favourite for a long time.)
