I had a path that was lined with peach trees but the other day i decided to chop them down and replace them with cedar trees, I've just went to that path today to see how they're doing and they've withered. How does that work? I had trees there before so why not now? ;__;

Dont plant them all at once. Plant one or two at a time... See if that works

For example (X is the trees O is grass)

XOXOXOXOX
Then the next day plant the O's

It also depends on where in the town you have the path. Cedar trees will only grow in the northern half of town, otherwise they'll continue to wilt.

^ what they said!

I heard that Cedar saplings only grow if it's in the upper area of your town, so maybe that's it? I tried to plant cedars down near my campsite (which is at the bottom of my town) and they died :(

Wow I didn't know that :o I guess I AM planting mine by the top of my town but still wow... Thats odd

oh no! that's a horrible rule D: sigh, i think that's what it is then. GAH I just want cedars in my town >__>

thanks for the help though, guys! c:

Thats right! I was going to post that maybe its too crowded now, but yes, the cedars only survive on upper parts. That goes back to city folk days. I agree, why not allow them on the lower parts? I can understand not on beeches, but i think they look nice elsewhere.

my path must run through like line that separates the upper and lower part of my town cause 3 have grown and 3 have wilted. sigh. I can't have it uneven. Back to peach trees i guess!

Yes, they unfortunately do not grow in the upper half of town. It's been like that in every animal crossing game to date.

It was originally meant to be a "realistic" type of thing, because supposedly cedar trees grow best in high altitudes and don't grow well near the coast. So they added that into the game.
It sort of made sense in the Gamecube version when the upper half of your town was on a cliff and the lower half was not. But now in New Leaf your entire town is on a cliff so it's sort of just annoying and has lost its effect.

I wish they would take it out of the game -.-
