So I've been able to grow a few hybrids, such as purple roses and blue pansies, and I've been able to do so easily and with a good bit of success. At the time I had no other flowers planted in my town because I read that would help, but as I've gotten more hybrids I started placing more of them around the town as decoration.

However, the ones I am no longer breeding and use only for decorating I've placed in a way that they can't 'breed,' for example, surrounded by paths so that there are no available spaces, or in an alternating pattern with flowers that are not the same species (lilies and violets). But now no hybrids want to spawn from the ones I'm trying to grow. I've used fertilizer and even some Jacob's ladders since I've had perfect town status for a few days and still not a single new hybrid has popped up in over two weeks... I'm kind of bummed out.

Will I have to pick up all the flowers I've laid out just to be able to grow new hybrids? Could it be the beautiful town ordinance that spawns other flowers around town? But I've had that ordinance in place from the beginning when I grew 20 pansies in less than five days... I don't know what I could be doing wrong... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If they are in a way they can't breed, I assume you'd have to change the layout of them. Unless I misunderstood it, but I believe the more hybrids (of the same type) you put together the greater chance of breeding more.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong ><

Ah sorry, I should have been more specific. What I meant was the ones I use as decoration I've placed in ways they can't breed so as not to interfere with the ones I am trying to breed ><

I edited original post and hopefully it will be easier to understand hehe~

What to do is to clear out a part of your town, just a small part dedicated for growing hybrids (once you have them all return that to what it was originally) and, beautiful town ordinance helps

You place 4 hybrids with one up, one down, one left, one right, so they're connected with a space in the middle, the middle spot is used for fertilizer, then when you get 8 more flowers from that place two on either side diagonally from each of the 4 flowers, and every day water them and put the fertiliser right in the middle of those four flowers in the middle, and you should get a good high yield, i did this with black roses and would get about 5 on average a day from it

Remember to only water those hybrids and none other, and more importantly, make sure there's enough spaces around all these flowers for more flowers to grow, but just pick them all up

i hope this makes sense it's difficult to describe using words xD

Ah no I totally understand! I have an area for hybrid breeding, I even have that dumb fence too and I plant around it as well because there's enough space but... I still get nothing :( I was trying to breed pink lilies and I had about 16 scattered in a similar fashion but the last few I was trying to breed just wouldn't spawn. I kept getting white or red lilies instead. I gave up and started trying to breed pink tulips. I only have one of those I bred long ago. Even if there's only one, can you use that one and a regular red tulip to breed more pink?

I know what you mean and it's the most common method of growing flowers, so I won't explain that further. But that is indeed what I do and it works pretty well for me.

I don't think the amount of flowers in your town should affect it, I have flowers all over the place (You saw that last night) and I can usually get my hybrids to breed using fertilizer. If you're on the beautiful town ordinance, which I assume you are, I'd recommend only watering the flowers you're trying to breed, and note that your chances will decrease if you play a lot because your villagers will start watering flowers.

As for combinations, yes, you can breed a hybrid with a regular flower and end up with a hybrid. I have always followed Bidoofcrossing's hybrid guide and I think it's accurate. You can find it here.

If you look at the tulips in that guide, you're given this schematic:

You want a pink tulip. So you can look in the schematic where the pink tulips come from. I hope you understand the schematic, if you don't I'll be happy to help. Possible tulip combinations would be:

FLOWER 1 x FLOWER 2
Red x White
Red x Pink
Black x White
Black x Pink
Pink x White
Pink x Pink

Now on to the lilies! We don't want them to get lonely. Schematic time!

As you can see, there are four different possible outcomes if you try to breed two pink lilies (4th row, 3rd column). They would be red, white, pink or black. Now if you ask me, that sounds like the chances of the offspring being pink are pretty low - Even if you end up with a hybrid, it might be a black one.

It might be smarter if you breed pink lilies with white lilies. That gives you only two possibilities: You get a white lily, or you get a pink lily. I don't know exactly what the right patterns would be, but I'll suggest something like this:

epe
wfw
epe

e = empty,
w = white lily,
p = pink lily,
f = fertilizer.

And maybe that would help your luck.

Sorry for the massive post. ._.

Ahhhhhhhhh thank you!! I will try that tonight >< it makes sense to diminish the possibilities of other colors spawning by using only certain combinations. I hope I can grow more, after these past two weeks I've kind of lost all desire to breed hybrids since I've gotten nothing in return. I almost gave into despair ( ._.) Lol. Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice ^^
