How useful is the megaphone, truly?

Not sure if it's my mic or if it's the whole mechanic in general, but I don't know how to get the megaphone to work properly.

Of my villagers, it sees Limberg, Rolf, Gladys, and even managed to see Inkwell and Epona, who are brand new.

But when calling for Goose, Zucker, or Tex, either nothing registers, or Kapp'n gets the call instead. And I know they're outside when I call for them.

Interestingly, I tried saying their Japanese names for the heck of it. I used Tex's (Boruto) and it.... called for Zucker. Wat.

So is it a glitch? Am I saying the names wrong, or just a poorly done mechanic?

yeah sometimes its totally off but i usually use it for when i don't know where the **** my villagers are and i need to deliver them smth it's accurate most of the time for me tho
honestly idk how to work it properly i just base it off luck lol

Nobody truly knows how this thing works, you'd have to search the game's code.

am I the only one who gets embarassed talking to my 3DS in public though

I'm able to known the location of all of my villagers and even visitors around the town.
It's easy to know if Gulliver is in the beach again.

I always have to out of an American accent too.

I don't have an accent. It's everybody else in the world.

Sometimes it works, but often it doesn't. I wish it had a drop down menu where you could choose who to call.

The megaphone is kinda useful when you can't find a villager that you need to find, but when you use it it's not so great.

It doesn't work for me most of the time. I end up getting really frustrated and start yelling into my DS.
One time I was trying to find Beau, I kept yelling his name and nothing worked, now my family occasionally will yell "BEAU!" at me to make fun of me. cx

That thing is so fickle... I especially have a hard time calling O'Hare and Agnes ^^;

P: It's useful when I need to deliver things to people. Not so much when those villagers don't happen to be wandering around outside.

You need to enunciate clearly and slowly. Personally I never use the megaphone. By the time the game would have registered which villager I'm looking for I'd have found them.

Find it handy for Katie, Gulliver and Joan. Gulliver wakes up the first time.

i'm surprised so many people have a problem with the megaphone because i don't? it's pretty consistent for me, so i find it rather useful. of course it's not perfect, and there have been a few times where it registers the incorrect villager, but if you're loud and clear enough, i find that it works pretty well. i have a pretty neutral american accent btw, if that even matters.

I never use it, lol. I bought it and tried it a few times. It just didn't work well enough so I think I got rid of it.

I never use it, though I do know a few of my friends have problems with it.
One thing I've noticed is that if you type something in with the keyboard the megaphone registers the noise the key makes as a sound. It's pretty fun to experiment and see which key noise calls over which villager.
