Hello all. I need some advice on how I can regrow my town grass. I know I can revive it through time travel, but I've promised myself that this will be the town without using it. And I know that I can water flowers which will help it grow back. But I'm curious: do I have to plant flowers all over town? Just in the "patches"? Or just wherever?

Any help would be great, thanks!

I second this question. Parts of my town are becoming a bit barren and I don't plan on time traveling.

Anywhere there's flowers will promote grass staying or regrowth.
All we can really do is not run or walk on the grass to save it in the end.

The flowers need to be on top of where you'd like the grass to grow or stay!

hello!! if you want a quicker solution here's one I use frequently haha, only continue if you're okay with timetravel.
psst; having the beautiful town ordinance helps

1) find a villager that wants to move

2) tell them yes/no, if you tell them to stay and they still want to leave/vice versa you may have to try again next time

3) tt backwards one month, tting backwards only counts as one day. then tt back to the proper date, you should have better if not good as new grass and minimal weeds/no dead flowers if you have the beautiful town ordinace ♡

the villager you told to move will have already left by then/the villager you told to stay will still be there ^^
you'll also have bedhead though :)

edit: oops,, realized timetravel wasnt an option. sorry!

Sorry, not time traveling in this town. But thanks for the advice for future reference and other users!

Before you try to regrow your grass, I honestly would encourage you to design a path system before regrowing your grass so it is easier to retain your grass afterwards. :D I am unsure how far along you are with this town, but building a path system should be the first step when designing a town so it is easier to figure out PWPs, villager house placement, etc.. Knowing that you do not want to time travel (which is a very commendable decision in my honest opinion), I think it is more crucial than ever to come up with a path system! I hope this advice helps and feel free to check out my dream address below for inspiration on path design! :)

Awesome, thanks! I'm attempting natural paths, but I guess my blunder was not setting specific paths LOL! I'll keep this mind!

You are absolutely welcome, glad I could help! :D If you want to have a lot of the benefits of natural paths (like smoothing along the edges), but also retain the permanence of pattern-based paths, I definitely would recommend something like I did in my town which is a clover & pattern path style. :) Another nice thing about that approach is that it does not look off on angled/curved paths and the design you make can be practically anything (just make sure it looks good standalone, but also when it is tiled). :D

Very good point. I'm a huge fan of tile/clover paths, and I have it a bit more compact in my first town. So hope to spread the tiles and clovers out more with a dirt path! I should set them up tomorrow, my poor grass is wimping xD

Patience, lots of patience. They say flowers help the grass regrow, but i've never tested out that theory. It would just take a long time for it to grow back, it's one of the downfalls of this game.

I tried the flower method. I read that watering flowers would help regrow the grass under them, but I had to keep walking over the area to water them all which defeated the purpose.

What worked for me was creating clearly defined paths and sticking to them. I lined them with bushes, trees, bamboo, and flowers so that I wouldn't stray. It took a couple of weeks to a month, but the grass did grow back once I stopped walking on it. And now I have natural paths with clover and stepping stones that look pretty nice.

Well I did have a quicker time travel method, but if it's not your thing-

Rain and snow promote grass growth like heck. If you can, play alot in times when it rains or snows.

You have to water the flowers to promote grass growth. Trees and starts help a little bit also.

FOR ALL YOU TT'ERS
You only need to travel 15 days ahead in a season that rains or snows alot -summer and winter- and the grass under your paths will have been nearly completly if not fully grown. True story. Found this by accident actually.

I use bushes from Leif. I've noticed grass seems to grow under them. Might just be preventing you from walking on that square, either way still works.
