How to know how far you are in the 16 villager cycle?

I'm currently cycling to get Lobo back, but am unsure where I am in the process? I have eight villagers I've for sure moved out since he's left, but after Lobo started to appear on mainstreet, other villagers that I'm not sure when they moved showed up. Does this mean that they moved after he did? I took a long hiatus last winter/spring, so my memory of older move-outs is pretty hazy.

Yes, if they appear after lobo it means they moved out after him. The easiest way to know for certain is when lobo stops appearing on Main Street, then you've cycled 16

u could try guess by using the town tree(sitting on it) it tells u all the dates the villagers moved in

Okay found the thread again. I usually save letters in the post office when they leave and try to keep them in date order or i keep their pictures again in order they were given. I also take pictures of their goodbyes unless i miss it then go back to the letters lol

I go by this: when they stop showing up on Main Street, they are ready to cycle back in. That is how I recycled Kid Cat back in
