I just tried having coffee with an Amiibo character. I used the phone thing on the wall which contacted and brought the character to the roost. As soon as the character gets there he is automatically at the table with their coffee. I don't have any yet. If I go to the counter and say that I want coffee it makes me drink it there at the counter. Is there a way that I can actually sit at the table with an Amiibo character and both of us have coffee? I thought that that was the whole idea behind the coffee shop. Thanks in advance for the help.

Are you sure other people had coffee with the amiibo chars? I haven't seen many screenshots RE the cafe at all.
I went to look back at the trailer, and I'm not seeing the rep with coffee when sitting with the Able Sisters, for example.
Both my wife and I have tried and have not found a way to do it. All you can do is sit and watch them drink their delicious brew. Now, if one of your friends comes to visit your island and you both go into the cafe you can BOTH get coffee and drink it together at the table.

They kinda dropped the ball here. Once your amiibo villager arrives and is seated, it would be great if we were automatically seated with them and served coffee together. Wouldn't it be so cute if there was an option to pay for your invited friend's coffee/cookie? Ahhh so cute. The Roost could have been so much better.
