New leaves are floating around and we should be able to collect them, what do i do to get them.... i have tried everything

There is only certain ones you can catch. They are the full red looking leaves and they move a bit slower than the smaller ones blowing around 😁

The ones you can catch are a lot bigger too (at least double the size of the falling ones) so once you see one you'll know right away 😊

I've been catching tons of them...but, has anyone noticed that sometimes you swing at one of them and it just disappears? I've been seeing that a few times lately. I know I've directly hit them...but it doesn't register, and then they disappear. Like I said...I've been catching a ton of them anyway, so it hasn't really slowed me down. I just find it odd that the game seems to have some level of disagreement with the hit-detection or something. They also love to spawn over my river where I can't get them.

Lol I was so confused when they first started falling but I ended up seeing the larger one and started getting them. Haha I was trying to catch the small ones at first.

Yep, just use a bug net. The Sakura Petals (in the spring) and Snowflakes (in the winter) also follow the same method. Also from my experience...if a Maple Leaf is over the river and you miss it with the net it doesn't fade away but simply drifts away from you.

Yeah that happens for me and it happened to me during cherry blossom season as well. I think you're right it's to do with the hit-box being weird. I think that they disappear because the game thinks you hit them with the edge of your net instead of the net part and "broke" it. Kinda like how you can scare bugs away if you hit next to them instead of right on them.

I've noticed that the leaves that you're able to catch have a shadow on the ground. The ones that are just decorative falling through the air don't. And I've noticed if you run too close to them or swing your net and miss, they'll fade away sometimes.

I've also noticed this happening, most of the times it happens it's because of one of two things for me:

1.) I already tried to catch it once and missed, and the leaf is now in the process of disappearing.
2.) I ran closely past the leaf/through it before noticing it, and the leaf is now in the process of disappearing.

Try it for yourself a few times, but it seems closely running by or missing a leaf will make it disappear, and you can't catch it anymore, even if you hit it full on with your net. It's a bit like some of the insects like the orchid mantis: Once you scare one of those, you can still see it scrambling on the ground for a little while but you can't catch it anymore.

So I'm not the only one who was confused by this. LOL I ran all over my island yesterday trying to catch leaves and felt so frustrated I wasn't catching any. Now I know better. 😔
