So, you reset your town. You go through Rover's rambling, and go into town. You get a house and development permit. Then... you reset. And again. And again. Why? No reason. Congrats, you've caught the resetting plague. Here's how to get rid of it quickly.

Method 1
Buy a second NL. In this copy, you can reset and do what you really want to do in it. This way, you can get out the urge to reset without doing it to your main town. If you get the urge while you're playing, go to your second copy and reset. Doesn't work? Try Method 2.

(From Unidentified Floor Orange) You can also buy a physical copy and delete your digital one{if you have one}. In this copy, you can have a fresh start and don't go down the same road that you did with the digital one. Don't pick a map willynilly, reset the game to find a map you like with villagers so you don't reset it.

Method 2
Take a break from your town(s). I mean, a long one. Put away NL and your 3DS, and ignore it until you don't have your mind on it anymore. Do something you enjoy. Go biking, fishing, hack computers, play the old Animal Crossing games, etc. When you remember NL, you'll find new enthusiasm.

Method 3(from Hirisa)
Cut yourself off from the crowd here on TBT. Take a break from the site so you don't get that urge to reset for villagers or anything. Take some time to do your hobbies off the computer.

(From PlasticPinkPiggy)Remember: this is just pixels! Nothing on it is real, there's no point in getting angry over your game.

I hope this helps you guys. If you have a method that worked for you, post it here.

If I feel like resetting, I drink a huge glass of water.

Then I forget why I'm angry at the game and remember its a pixelated screen

Nice method! xD I was never in the resetting plague but I have had my second-guesses over weather to or not.

I have the resetting plague lol. I swear, after I've worked so hard on one town, paid of all my houses, got most villagers I like, I reset.

Well, my method is to play my ROMs of Population Growing and Wild World. It's very fun to do it, especially with the Acres in the GC version.

To be very honest, I find the easiest way to getting over the reset habit is to step away from these forums, and simply concentrate on playing the game. Getting away from the "must have only kawaii villagers" herd, or the "it's ugly, but it's considered rare so I want one too" crowd, and instead focusing on what it was that made me happy to play this game in the first place helps me appreciate what I have instead of thinking that it is inadequate. Works for me, in any case.

TeddysMama: No, that thread is only for stating that you're resetting...

Hirisa: That's a good method! I'll add it up~

I purchased a physical copy of the game, and then deleted my digital copy. This might make zero sense whatsoever, but the new copy feels like a fresh start for me, and I'm determined to not go down the same road as I did with my first copy (which was reset, have the town for three days, reset, rinse and repeat).

And when I get irritated at the game, I take a break. It's the reason I'm online now actually lol.

I thought I would only reset the one time, but holy lord it is a plague. After three days of mindless resetting I found a setup I like. I give up on getting a "perfect" villager team...it's just impossible without trading with people. For some reason, I have very few rocks in my layout...and I don't know why that bothers me LOL the resetting disease is manifesting!! Gaaahhh! (//.-)

Taking a break is such a good tip. I took a week's break and once I came back I found a whole new appreciation for my town. It really gives you a fresh outlook.

This game is WAY harder to reset than others, as you have MUCH more to lose such as PWP's which may never be requested again, shops take longer to build, be available etc

I'm actually in the process of fixing my town (I'm calling it Oracle 2.0) right now, and I'm planning a guide when I'm finished about, basically, how to make your town "new" again. I take it a little extreme, but over time it's been looking so good. It'll be a decent sized-guide, but the main points right now are these:

- Chop down all your trees. Buy saplings, collect fruit, etc.
- If you have paths, lay them down where you want them.
- CLEAN OUT YOUR STORAGE. You'll be amazed at all the crap you have taking up space.
- Group your flowers together by type & color so you know what you have, and sell/dig up/give away what you don't want or need.
- Plant trees and flowers where you want them.

It also helps to switch your ordinance temporarily until you have things where you want them, so villagers don't keep plopping down flowers in unneeded areas.

Staying away from these forums would have made the game so much better for me, TBH. After all the talk about what makes a good town, I reset and reset and am always unhappy with my town. Unlike the other AC games where I played and was happy. I don't even remember a thing about my old town layouts in previous games, it didn't matter to me then. I wish it was like that now :(

^I definitely think it's easy to fall into a competitive/"Keeping up with the Joneses" mindset.

Whenever I start feeling along those lines, then it's time to take a break from the interwebs.

Yeah i wish it was like how i was in WW..
i wasnt obsessive, apart from collecting villager pics
i didnt care who moved into my town, i learned to like them, or ended up hating them, i had no concept of dream villagers, my house just had random furniture it didnt need to be matched

WORD

The only time I dislike my town is when I get back from the island because Re-Tail is all the way at the top of the map...but not reset dislike. The thought of resetting hurts my stomach.
