Hey! So, I was wondering if, like plot resetting, there was a way to choose which villager moves?
Like, say I set the time on my ds to two weeks in the future, then started a new file on acnl, and then looked around and saw someone had moved. Would it be possible to keep doing that (and quitting without saving if it was someone I wanted to keep) until the villager you wanted out was moved, or would it stick to one villager? Ty!

It will stick to one villager, unfortunately. People do use that method to see who is thinking of moving out though. Then they come back to the present and get that villager to ping.

Ah okay! Tysm!

More or less. You can use time travelling to make villagers move out quickly. Even though it sticks to one villager (like SoSu said), you can deny their request to move and time travel more until it's the one you want to get rid of.

The method I use goes like this: when someone pings you to move, ask them to stay and save your game. Change your 3DS calendar to one year after that. Since you denied a request to move on your last day playing, nobody will have moved out. Load as your mayor, save and quit. Then set the 3DS calendar forward by another year. This time, use a new character to check if anyone has moved out and quit without saving. Set the calendar back one year (so that you're on the last day you played as your mayor) and use your mayor to find the character who would be moving out one year later. If they don't ping you, talk to them half a dozen times. If they still don't mention moving, save, quit, reload, and try again. Do this until the villager asks you to move. If it's one you want to keep, tell them to stay, save and quit, then set the calendar forward one year. Load as your mayor, save and quit. Go forward another year as a new character. Keep repeating this until it's the one you want to get rid of. In that case, tell them to go.

You can then set your calendar back to the original date, since that will count as one day forward. You just need to keep that in mind when calculating when a villager will be in boxes, because if they're in boxes in 5 days, when you travel back it will be in 4 days.

The only downsides to this method are bed hair and weeds, and it can mess up your town tree calendar if you don't have every shop that gets unlocked with time open yet. I think most consequences are pretty easy to fix. Also, don't forget to enable the Beautiful Town ordinance so your flowers won't wilt.

Another thing you need to remember when using this method or any other that involves time travelling is that villagers won't ping you when an event is coming up. When I use this method, the first time I time travel is to a Monday of a week with no events. There are calendars that show events so you can know when and if there are any coming up on your chosen dates.
