how to get furniture from villager house?

Like if i liked a sofa a villager has in his house, how can i have it? do i have to talk to him alot or something?

the easy but awful way is to spam them with furniture through mail until they gift/sell you the furniture they want, ends up in re-tail or in the police station. But it's awful because you spam furniture, some people just ruin other villager's houses just for their furniture.

Oh, you have to send furniture of the same size.
