Soooo, couple of times people asked me to have a tour around my island but im not totally sure im doing it well.
From a personal point of view, I don't like being guided or followed during a tour, so I did pretty much the same with my guests too,
but...is it rude? or bad? leaving them totally free to roam? should i guide them so they dont miss some island area or is it better to leave them totally free?
advice?

imo i don't think it's rude to let them explore on their own! everyone has their preferences--you aren't a bad host!

while i’ve never hosted a tour before, i think your method is fine. might give them more time to explore rather them trying to rush if you’re standing there waiting to take them to a new area. but if you’re leaving people unattended, make sure you know who you’re letting in and to not leave anything lying on the ground ;;

i'm a pretty awkward person and i've been asked a few times for a tour and so i just kinda wander around my island while they follow and i'll just say what each area is

but a lot of the time i'll be in a hurry to go do things around the house so i'll leave my switch on and let people just look around wherever and do whatever they want aha

i wouldn't say it's rude, whatever you prefer is fine ☆

If I were to tour I’d honestly prefer to roam free, not rude at all! I understand why people watch their visitors, but if you’re hoasting people from this site with good reviews I don’t see a problem at all as long as you’re comfortable with it. :)

It depends if you are wanting to do a "guided tour" or just allow people come to "freely tour" your island. It sounds like you are just letting people show themself around and that's perfectly fine! You could always mention that to them before inviting them over, just to clear all bases if you are worried.
