I keep selling TBT to get igb but I share some with my son and I tend to spend the rest on whatever hybrids and things people are selling. I have an inventory full of stuff now that I probably won't use. I'm a bit of a hoarder.
That's about the quickest way to make your fortune though, selling TBT. It was taking me a long time to build up bells just from the island, I got to about 8mil, spent it on Marina and then had nothing left. And that was with like 3 trips a night.
It's just less stressful for me to do it this way now

I've only been playing New Leaf for two months so I only have 1,500,000 Bells. Compared to how much money I earned in two months in previous games though, that's a lot.

Mayor Lainey has 199,150,000 bells saved. My two storage people have maybe 100,000 saved. All 3 of my houses are paid off, so I don't really have anymore big expenses. It's all mostly from the island bugs & selling villagers from my cycle towns. Every bell comes back to Toretto to be saved. I don't hoard items any more, I sell everything that I can reorder & everything will come back in an event.

I was hovering between 20-25 million for about a year, but after a full day going back and forth selling/buying turnips I'm at 61 million now. I want the gold badge but I'm not entirely sure what I'll do with the 100 million, so I don't know if I'm going to try for it or not
