We may all have started playing Animal Crossing at different times within our lives, but when it comes to video games in general, how old were you when you first started playing?

For me, I was seven years old when I started playing video games. My first handheld was a Gameboy Color, and my first console was the Nintendo 64. I was awed by the fact you can control what happens on the TV, which was why I started playing.

I remember first playing a video game when I was four and it was Tetris on the NES. It was my dad’s secretary’s boyfriend and he let me play his NES whenever I was over at his apartment waiting for someone to come take me home after he had picked me up from preschool.

I was in grade 1 over at my friend's house. She had an N64 with Pokemon Stadium. That was the first video game I played. So I was about 6 probably.

My first owned video game was Hamtaro Ham-Ham Heartbreak for GBA that I played on my GBA SP. I was 7 for that.

Six years old. I was watching my Dad play video games before that.

I can absolutely credit interest in this hobby to my Dad. I watched him play games. One evening after dinner he put a dining chair in front of the TV, handed me the PS1 controller, told me what the buttons did and let me go for it. The same year my parents got me a Gameboy for Christmas.

Almost 30 years later and it is still the thing my Dad and I most have in common.

I'm fairly sure I was around 5 and my first game was Super Mario Land 2, but I can hardly remember. All I really can remember is I never managed to get far because I was too young and dumb to know how to play yet.

My first experience with playing video games was on a Wii. I got it when I retired and my grandson was 3 years old so I thought it would be cool to bowl with him or do other Wii activities indoors because Montana was cold and snowy. I was 58 yes old. One of our favourites was the black goo and animal crossing (only a farmer building fences for critters and popping balloons).

I do recall going to the pawn shop when my son was around 8yrs old back in the mid 80's and he wanted an Atari. But I was busy working 2 jobs and going to college so I had no time then to play video games.

I was maybe 4-5 but I was playing educational LeapFrog games. I didn't start playing "real" games until I was about 8.
