How often do you switch out villagers?

Do you switch them out? If so, how long do you let them stay before you switch them out? I love all my villagers dearly and I’ve held back on letting them leave for quite some time. My last villager hunt in the islands was back for my 10th villager and that’s a while already. I haven’t let anyone move yet except for the two randos I kicked out. Most of my starters are still with me. I haven’t gotten their pictures yet because I’m busy terraforming but I’m craving the excitement of a new move in. I’m wondering if I should start letting them go (except for a few I’m planning to keep forever) to keep things fresh.

How about you guys? Do you regularly get new villagers? Do you plan to? And how often? Has anybody completed their all star dreamies list and have all as permanent residents? I don’t plan on having a set of 10 dreamies since I want a few of my slots to be rotational or else I’ll get bored.

In New Horizons I've been swapping them out a lot. It helps keep the game fresh for me. I have also just been trying to find villagers I haven't had in previous titles that I like. I have amiibo of all my favs so I can just swap them in whenever I want. But island hopping is also super addicting.

It depends on how much I like the villager, but I almost always move them when they ask me if they should move or not. I've only kept Timbra and Pietro so far. I tried coming up with a list of 10 that I'd want permanently and it's really hard because I want a good balance of personalities and I have to like their appearance and catchphrase. I think that in the end, I'll settle down but have a few that I'm not too sure of. Once I get them, then I'll decide if I want to keep them. There are always some villagers that I think that I really want, but once I get them, I'm not as crazy about them as I thought I'd be. I feel that way about Tia.

I got very lucky with island hopping and I’ve become very attached to all the villagers that I’ve currently got. I’m missing the jock personality but I don’t have the heart to move any of my villagers out to make room.

I'm all over the place, since I have no dreamies I often switch between villagers to see what villagers fit better

I love all my villagers & some of them are here to stay, but I don't want to get bored and I like new faces so most of them will just come and go (I'll let them leave only once I get their picture though).

There's a couple of villagers I'd like to keep permanently, but other than that once I have their pictures I'm usually okay for them to leave. I like experiencing a lot of villagers and keeping things fresh though since there's so many great ones I've never had on my island.

I think I got a little addicted to villager hunting... I'll keep my dreamies for sure but everyone else is free to leave when I feel ready for them to go :) At some point while I do love all my villagers, getting new ones really make it feel like a real town or neighborhood

I will probably keep mine for a bit, but I could see myself switching some out since I have all of the amiibo cards.

I am trying to let one go every two weeks. But of the four I don't want to let go of right now, two of them keep asking!

I have three villagers that I want to hold on, but the rest, I switch out frequently. Whenever someone nice is in the campsite, I force someone out. It keeps the game interesting. I also let most of them move if they ask, but they haven't asked in a very long time.

Once I have the villagers I like, I will keep them. So far there are a couple left that when they ask, I will let them go, or switch them out if I find a camper I like. When I am happy with the villagers I have I will only switch them out if a camper is someone I like more, or someone I miss from an older game

I love all my villagers dearly but apart from maybe 5 of them I will cycle them out when they ask and replace them etc. However I got rid of Kidd and I super regret it so I might be trying to get him back. I dont want to really regret getting rid of some of mine though

^^^ Everything this person said. Although, I have some permanent residents that I will not let go of as I was very lucky to obtain them. However, I'll always have a couple of spots I cycle through because otherwise I will grow bored, I am always looking for villagers I have never previously had and because of that my taste in villagers is always changing which is always surprising and fun! I also collect amiibo but I never really cycle them in unless someone else needs them because for some reason owning them and having the security of scanning them in whenever makes me not really want them in my island. I'd rather someone I haven't had in any AC game before :)

In New Horizons I'm switching them out more than I did compared to New Leaf it feels. Mystery Island hopping is fun when you see a random villager there. At the moment I am hunting for my original villagers, let them go because the built homes from the tutorial time felt empty compared to their realy homes.

Only permanent residents for now besides these two are dreamies. Will let them go once they cough up their picture xD

I have like 4 I'd really like to keep for a while and see how our friendship develop, the others I let love out after a while so I can see some new faces! I haven't got any villagers' pictures yet but ideally I'd wait until I get it, then let them move out when they feel like it.
It's hard though 😢 But I know so few of the villagers that it'd be a shame to not try and meet more of them

I only have two villagers that I know for certain I will never let move out although I love everyone else I’d let them go because I do get bored of having the same people for a while, it’s nice switching up the scene and meeting new personalities

I would never BUT I do scan Amiibos to temporarily kick them out and clear their interior! I will scan their Amiibo again to bring them back. Though usually, before I do, I scan someone else's dreamie and let them have it THEN I return my villager back.
