I realized I rarely get campers. If I'm luck I'd get one every one - two weeks or so, unless I have ten villagers. When I have ten villagers, I tend to get about two or three a week.
When my town doesn't have snow I usually get 1 or 2 a week. But when my town does have snow (Which it does) I rarely even see one. I'm a TTer so that's why I have snow.
Try the reset trick
I used to get like 2 a month. I hated that. But with the reset trick I get like 3 a week. Sometimes even when I reset 20 times I get nothing.
Btw I mean 3 times a week but each of those times I get like 5 or so villagers since I reset.
Oddly enough, I have a full 10 villagers in my game and yet will still get campers every so often. I despise it because if it's a villager I want, yet I have a full house, I can't get him/her :/ I mostly get villagers who aren't the most 'cute' or 'cool' though lol The only time I was pretty upset about a camper was when Ankha was in my tent about 2 weeks ago and I had a full town...I was like 'seriously!?, NOW you come?' >.> Personally, I always felt it was pointless having villagers camp when you have a full town but I guess that's just how it goes. When I had about 8 villagers, I had quite a few campers appear in my town though, not the best looking or appealing to me. I guess it all depends on the luck of the draw.
I had the same issue for days. Try the resetting trick by creating a New Save File and checking the camp. When it's up you just build your tent in a place where a future villager could live and save.
For me, a camper shows up in my town (I have a full 10) when someone is thinking about moving. When I see that orange tent, I think uh oh... and sure enough, someone pings me that day that they are thinking about moving.
I tend to have better luck on the weekends with my campsite than I do the weekdays, but perhaps that's just coincidence. From what it seems there isn't a real set pattern for Campsite, and I haven't been playing as often as I usually do as of late. :\
I don't usually get campers, but when I do, they come in hordes. 2-3 campers in a row.
Recently, I had Bella, Gladys, and Colton all come to my campsite.
