I've had 18 in total! I use to like cycling villagers out and pick up new ones from mystery islands, but then found I can grow attached to villagers very easily So because of this I stopped cycling villagers and sought out my dreamies before I became attached to random villagers I picked up!

Which is quite a lot more than I expected! I time traveled quite a bit in the first month of the game on top of the amiibo move ins. I've also gotten quite lucky with villagers asking me to move out when I was ready for them to leave so overall been easy to cycle through them. I think I'm going to move through villagers a lot more than I expected to keep the game feeling fresh

Honestly this is super hard to answer for me. I've had 7 permanent villagers, and 3 plots to rotate new villagers to either get their picture from, or trade / sell. I've also had many villagers multiple times. I've had Sherb, Dom, Judy, Tangy, Rosie, Audie, Whitney, among others, multiple times alone. Realistically I've had probably 40 - 50 unique villagers, 30 of those I've gotten their photo. With multiple takes of villagers, probably in the 70-80 range lol
