i once spent over 100 nmt looking for judy and ended up just buying her for 25nmt (i also traded a few villagers for her ☆)

another time i spent 30nmt looking for apollo and my brother bought his amiibo 2 days later

I villager hopped spontaneously, since I have a lot of dreamies, I don't search for anyone specific, but if I find one of those dreamies, they automatically will come back home with me lol, I got lucky and used 4NMTs for Audie and 2NMTs for Chief, the other 25NMTs I did I found no one (Octavian, Katt, Gayle & Zucker showed up tho, not a dreamie unfortunately) so just ended up buying Lucky for 5NMT and winning Diana on a giveaway

For me, it really depends on luck, I got Flurry and Punchy on my 1st and 2nd mystery islands, and both of them are my dreamies. Yes I know the third, fourth and fifth villager are personality locked but I just feel very lucky to have them both this quickly. Then I spent roughly 20 nmt for Elvis, 30 nmt for Sprinkles, and 40 nmt for Marshal. I thought I am quite lucky until I try to find Diana... I spent over 70 nmt and I still cannot find her. In the end, I let another villager move in and began to farm for nook miles. The second time, I prepare 100 nmt and gives myself 3 choices: Diana, Whitney or Judy.......and nope, I cannot find any of the three. So yeah, in the meantime, since my island don't have any snooty, I am waiting for campers and farm nook times at the same time.

I guess, this just depends on luck.

I've used well over 350 now (120 in one continual sitting...) and have ever found 1 of my 7 main dreamies (or the +4 runner up dreamies...) So basically I have lost all hope of ever finding them on the islands ever. Thankfully I have most of their amiibos.

I didn't island hop much, so in total i probably spent 80 nmt right now?
I mostly get my dreamies from people. I got some free or for tbt, however I'm not done with dreamies yet
