I found Zucker on my very first trip, and I found Beau on my first trip for my 10th villager. Otherwise, I've run into and passed over some fan-favorites, like Merengue (I might have taken her, but I have three Normals already...which is far too much. Sorry, Merengue).
Beau was the closest to a dreamie of mine I've run into, though. My luck hasn't been superb.
I went to 68 islands today and found pretty great villagers, Fang, Marina(3 times), Merengue, Freya, Sherb. I was looking for Raymond at the time though so I passed on them all. Sherb is super cute, but I already have two lazy villagers that I really love. I have asked Whitney, Fuana and Erik to move into my island from mystery islands though. Today I passed on everyone, didn't find Raymond and adopted Poppy from someone. Can't say I'm upset, I think Poppy is adorable.
I've been very lucky. I've gotten Erik, Reneigh, and Sherb! However, when hunting for my 10th villager I wasn't so lucky. I ended up getting a random move-in who turned out to be Queenie who isn't too bad, but if she asks to move, I'll let her go.
I never met any of the new animals like Raymond Audie etc. on Mystery Islands yet. I had to choose what the game given me and make my own judgement if they are cute or if i'd end of liking them. I prefer not to spend more then 10 nmt and I'd say not bad I got ruby, roald, bianca and zucker on my mystery island trips. The popular ones i skipped on are octavian, kiki, coco and bunnie as I prefer having 1 animal type/personality for variety.
I don't have dream villagers but got some nice ones early on.
Last night was a bust. My first mover left and I went island hopping for a cranky villager. My island has 6 girls and 3 boys.
Claudia, Rhonda, Claudia (again), Eugene, Henry and Candi were the villagers I met. Not sure why Claudia appeared twice. 2 snooty villagers already live in my town. Gave up and the game picked Boots.
I have amiibo cards and didn't want to use them. Plan was to see who was on the island or let the game pick them for me. Changed my mind and will be scanning for a cranky villager.
I got Kiki, who is one of my dreamies and that I don't have an amiibo for. I also got Whitney. She isn't one of my dreamies, but is a popular villager whom I liked enough to invite.
I'm primarily looking for cats, and the only cat I've seen other than Kiki is Stinky. Stinky's my least favorite of the 3 jock cats and I'd rather have Bud the lion (he was one of my starting 2) so I didn't invite him. I've seen some other super popular villagers, but I personally don't want them so I didn't invite them. I do not have an online membership right now, but even if I did, I don't feel right selling a villager. I would never invite someone I didn't want.
I only had one dreamie, Lucky, and got him in a kind of a poetic way (?). Island hopping I found Apollo as my 4th villager, and invited him because he was my dad bird in WW and I loved him. Times passes and I realize that perhaps it's time to let him explore and meet new villagers (when I was little I hated villagers moving away so I didn't get to meet many), and then... Apollo ends up being one user's favorite and they have Lucky! I never got Lucky as a child but I loved him, so in the end my dad bird gave me my all time favorite.
I like to greet everyone while I'm island hopping, and due to this I was faced with... Fang's just pure cuteness. There is something soft about him that melts my heart, he's such a kind wolf.
I also met Sherb and was killed by his tiny smile. I had underestimated his cuteness (plus I have a problem with lazy villagers, I love them so much, just like with crankies).
I also found some friend's and other user's favorites, so I've been giving them away ^^
I did my third set of island hopping for the last plot and let's just say, I used up my luck the previous week when I was for island hopping set # 2 when I got Raymond. I was a bit disappointed but I'm not as frustrated because Kid Cat has an amiibo card (not as expensive as Marshal) and a much more reasonable trading rate here. Someone else moved in in the last plot though so I guess it's time to evict some villagers.
Anyway, I do understand the frustration though... T-T It feels like all those hard earned NMTs just went down the drain.

Couldn't even find a single smug when I was looking for one (and didn't have one on my island)...
But you could say I've been lucky on random move-ins.
I've gotten some fan-favourites like Beau, Judy and Audie so far. Not my dreamies sadly, so I just gifted them to friends
I started island hopping looking for 12 dreamies, and have found 4 of them (Marina, Flora, Tangy, Blanche) after 21 tickets spent specifically to villager-hunt, and maybe 5 more tickets at the beginning of the game where there were villagers on the islands but I was mainly there to look for resources. I've been extremely fortunate, I think.
I also lucked into getting one dreamie (Teddy) as one of my starting villagers.
was searching specifically for a cranky since i didn't have one.. wanted apollo because he was an og villager of mine since wild world, but honestly would've settled for another cranky if i came across them first.
i think i've been pretty lucky with my islands. i got both judy and raymond within 150 tickets.
