Maybe it was a fund raiser or something? It sounds perfectly fine to me.
I'd guess it's so kids can realize how lucky they are to have food everyday. At least that's why most religious fast. They fast so they are more grateful for what they have/feel how it was like for their past religious people who had to go days without food.

Anyway, I've gone probably over a day. There a lot of times over the summer where I forget to eat, or just don't eat at all because we have no food.

I've never been a fan of fasting nor can I comprehend it.

I guess I'm just like a Grandma who stuffs her grandchildren with food.

I have hypoglycemia, so I have to eat every couple hours to keep my blood sugar level up or I'll crash.

The only exception was when I got really sick with a super-infection last summer, and for at least a week, couldn't eat any solid food. I pretty much lived off of water, tea, chicken broth, juice, and gatorade. For the next week, I was able to eat hardboiled eggs (cause they're soft) and a little bit of rice and cream of wheat cereal, as well as applesauce (as long as it was warm), yogurt, and Jello.
It took me at least two or three weeks before I stopped gagging when I tried to eat bread.
And I got lucky with that; if it had gone on any longer, I would have had to have been hospitalized.

So, unless chicken broth counts, I suppose a week is the longest I've gone, and it was a nightmare of an experience I hope to never ever repeat. I'm still trying to put back on all the muscle I lost.

I only go longer than a day if I am really ill, like when I was in hospital with appendicitis I had half of my Christmas lunch, got rushed to hospital and didn't eat solid foods until the 29th... Apart from that I have to eat every few hours otherwise I start getting all weak- at work I only get one break at like 2pm so I have to go around five hours not eating which is bad enough (luckily we get free hot drinks so I drown myself in tea :P ) and then until 6pm when I get home, heck I even have a tendency to wake up at 3am starving and I have to get myself something to eat... (I normally grab a plain, dry weetabix and munch on that in bed :P )

A couple of months ago I went about three days without eating and I think that's the longest I've ever been, thankfully, cause I'm almost always hungry.

the longest was.. idk how many days but a few. I was staying at somebodies place for a while and was pretty out of it most of the time so I didn't really realize. then I like passed out one day in the kitchen and his little brother made me a pb&j sandwich, and I decided to make better life choices haha

now I only ever go a day without eating and even that's rare, I find myself getting weak quite quickly so I try to at least snack often. c:

While I was walking home I thought of making this thread 'cuz I was Hungary, so I went Russian to the kitchen to Czech the fridge, I found Turkey but there was Norway I could eat it because it was covered in Greece from frying in Japan (Bad puns are bad, please forgive me). But really, I think I went three days without eating once but on the third day I had half a slice of cheese then didn't eat anything else for five more days, so it was more like a week without eating. I felt awful on the last day, it hurt so bad to move. To be honest I haven't been eating well lately :P. It made me wonder how long y'all have gone without eating.

Who cut the cheese? xD

Anyways, since I am so small, I don't eat as much as other people do, but I can't go a few hours without food because I usually eat fruit, and fruit doesn't fill you for a long time...
