How long did it take to "finish" your dream house?

I put finish in quotations because I personally think mine will never be finished with all the things I want! I change my mind often so Im always looking for new themes and cross over themes you know? Right now I have mermaid set, trying to get a foresty feel to it with DLC and Weeding day set, and Zodiac room(That one has taken me the longest to find matching items!)

took me a while. house design was never a huge deal for me; i basically would just fill a room with one set, maybe add in a couple misc items, and leave it at that

but after i came back from my hiatus in may, i decided i wanted my rooms to have a bit more detail, to be a bit more creative..i finished my house about in june-july..im not completely happy, and theres still a few things im considering adding, but overall i like it

main room is a pink/strawberry themed cafe
back room is inspired by the music video for pity party by melanie martinez
left room is a doll nature hangout room
right room is a combination of the fish set and mermaid set, plus some island items and misc stuff
upstairs is a combination of egg set and kiddie set customized to pastel, with some misc stuff
downstairs is a teddy bear winter room

I recently finished my Anne of Green Gables house. It took me about a month. My next house will be Mary's from A Secret Garden. This ones a bit tricky for me, so it will probably take awhile to complete.

Still in progress. Kitchen needs work and side garden/tea party room too. Bedroom, living room, and dance room are done.

The only room in my house that's finish is the kitchen and it took about a week for it to be complete. It's mainly because I gathered the items needed over time while I was busy landscaping. So far I've been working on my house for about 2/3 weeks and it's not even close to finish.

Each room in my house has a different theme/set.
Main room: mansion reception room.
Left wing: Gracie's series.
Right wing:Sweets series.
Back wing: Gorgeous series (still a work in progress).
Basement: modern bedroom.
Upstairs: Highrise apartment.

Although I'm thinking of having a house based off the TV show Bones, the main room the lab, the backroom the murder scene, the left room the interrogation room etc.

I try to make themes for my rooms, but then I find cool random items and stick them in my house as well. My rooms are all kind of cluttered, but the items are cool and I don't really want to put some stuff away. I also recently started playing again and want to change a few rooms. They are never finished.

It took me a long time! Like you said I kept finding nice items and kept finding ways to place them in my rooms. I still have 2 rooms in my house which I still feel like aren't finished! lol 3 rooms though I already feel like they're fine the way they are. So eventually you'll get to that feeling of having finished c:

Yeah Im excited for the princess set I was going to mix some of those items in with Mermaid so it has nice feel to it

oo that would look super nice! My basement is mixed with mermaid and some minimalist I think, that's one of the rooms I feel still needs work.

my main room is a rococo room mixed in with random furniture items c: actually made it look like a real place. then I have a regal room with random furniture items too. I mixed my kitchen set with the lovely series items. and upstairs is my princess room c:

I need only a sapphire and that's"finished" ! However, i took around a year and a half, but I'm pretty sure I will chance something, obviosly.
