and she said her town corrupted, how can your town corrupt? I thought my town corrupted once, but my friend actually deleted my data when I wasn't looking :|
uh, so, how does this happen guuuuys?
imo, it generally depends on what the person means rather than what they explicitly say -- i.e. someone poking a little fun at their own race to their friends, obviously not being serious, versus a blatantly racist person completely seriously making insensitive jokes about an ethnic minority.
but i think definitely, when people begin to desensitize serious topics such as sexual assault, racism, violence against POC/LGBT+ individuals, misogyny/violence against women, disabled individuals, WW2, 9/11, etc. etc. that's definitely crossing a line.
it's even worse when people make "triggered!11?!!" jokes or are completely inconsiderate of topics that, whilst might not negatively impact or scare people generally, obviously hurt others because they don't understand/think it's "just a joke"... because you don't know what other people may have experienced.
If it's tasteful and is crafted properly to a point that it's funny, then it's below the line. Saying something dark with no pre-punchline or structure generally isn't entertaining and can be in poor taste.
That being said, the world needs to stop this morphing into a generation of special snowflakes that get offended over nothing. Especially people who have nothing to do with the said joke (e.g. White people getting constantly offended over black jokes).
