Do you do one specific theme for your mayor's house, do you do pre-room themes, or no real theme?

In my town New York, I have a general house theme. Living room, bathroom, kitchen, etc.

In Brooklyn, my mayor's house has a different theme per room:
Living room with a cabin feel, a floral room, a pirate room, a mystery-ish bedhroom, and the basement is just full of junk haha.

In Seoul, I'm making a flower shop house. The main room is the flower shop, the left room is a tool shop, the right is going to be a fruit shop, the upstairs a flower-themed lounge, the basement will be a backyard, and the back room will be a flower shop cafe feel.

What do you guys do?

It's a combination of typical rooms (bathroom, bedroom, kitchen) and themed ones. Some are just color schemes I like, one is garden-themed, another has retro/vintage-like items in it (with a gaming corner!), and I also have a music studio in one of my mayor's basements! Decorating is definitely one of the more fun parts of AC for me (I'm pretty content with HHD as well).

i don't really have a specific theme. i've got a cafe, a melanie martinez inspired room, a doll garden, a fish/sea room, a pastel room, and a snowy teddy bear room.

when i get my third town up and running, i'll probably start to have more specific themes.

I want to finish my Japanese style house. I still need to get my next loan payment thing paid off so I can get that secret storage room so I can finish since I ran out of space in my regular storage, lol.

I make my house like a normal house would. A kitchen, living room, ect. I'm not sure what to make my top room, though.

The other houses themes are going to be a Nature Tree house, a Fancy Restaurant, and a Princess house.

In Ivyvale, my mayor's house has a different theme for each room. I just kind of went with whatever I felt would be fun. Main room is a salon/sitting room with a vintage feel. To the left is a kid's play room, to the right is a fashion show, the back room is a garden room, upstairs is my super girly bedroom, and downstairs is an atmospheric gallery of Ivyvale's villager pictures.
My alt characters in Ivyvale have small houses, one with a museum/writing room, and the other with a kitchen and a little bedroom nook.

With Nexus, I'm still not sure yet. I know for sure my downstairs is going to be a game room, with items from the new minigames and the Nintendo items from the Villager amiibo's RV. Upstairs will probably be a bedroom like with my main town.

In Mizu each of my characters have a different themes house. Daisuke has a video game shop, futuristic police station, space themed bedroom, lounge, Zelda + splatoon rooms. Celine's house is mostly a shop (flowers + grocery) and cafe. Nanami, the mayor, has 2 zen gardens, a spa, an underwater bedroom, and an underwater sushi restaurant. Finally Cielle is a castle themes house.
Honestly I really like to make bedrooms, kitchens/cafes/restaurants. I don't really follow the standard house with a bathroom included as I'd rather make rooms that I enjoy making. For some reason I like making my rooms have equal balance on each sides and for the rooms to have symmetry.

I was planning on making my Mayor and Alt houses based on Space and Astrological Matters...
Sun and the Moon would be in one of their houses. :p

My mayor has a normal house. I wanted to make it as small as possible while still fitting the essentials in... so my main room is a combination of a living room, kitchen, and bed room. My backroom is a small bathroom, my upstairs is an office, and my basement is a laundry room (although I wish I kept the basement smaller).

In my new town, my mayor will probably have a normal house as well, but I want to expand it into mansion size so have a room for the kitchen, etc.

When I was younger I would just use different themes that I liked in each room~

My house right now is kind of under construction because I want everything to be perfect :U So far my set plans are to have a bedroom, living room, walk-in closet, bathroom, and kitchen. I'm learning towards making my basement an arcade but I'm still unsure.

Right now only the front room is perfect with an office area up front, the bedroom in the top left corner, and a lounge/game area in the top right corner. All in black and white furniture items because of course I had to have a color theme. The left room is currently "christmas threw up" but I might go for the black/white theme for the whole house once I finish fully expanding it. I'm also planning a second house in my town on an alt that will be asian themed, because why the heck not. Front room will be the restaurant, upstairs will be a lavish bedroom, and I haven't planned the rest because I still have my whole first house to finish planning! :|b

I don't have a specific theme for my mayor's house. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are modeled after my own white minimalist aesthetic that I would also like for my real future home. The guest room is modeled after my real-life friends' lazy, sort-of-messy personalities. I tried to create a half garage/half basement room for my basement. For my second story room, I was inspired by those pink ACNL rooms many have on Tumblr, but then decided it was too pink for my taste and, so, mixed it up with minimalist furniture, mermaid furniture, and rare items.

Based off my own likes since she's a semi-self-insert. She's also an elegant gothic Lolita so had to incorporate that aesthetic.

I have my mayor's room upstairs, a living room, a kitchen, a child's play room, and a backyard. They aren't finished yet as i am leaving the decoration of all of the houses last. Still haven't finished the outside of my town yet. But for my rooms they don't really have a specific theme. I kind of just add what I think matches.

I basically wanted my house to have regular rooms like a doll house, which fits my town name

Right now my bedroom is mermaid themed, and my main room is currently under construction. I'm going to add a reading room, kitchen, and gardening room. It's kind of generic, but I like it.

i con the same kind of theme- living room dining room bedroom etc but mainly i look online. for cool and really cute animal crossing rooms and try to twist them in my own style-- for example i have a cafe in my house and it is coming along so beautifully!!

(I have 5 towns) For my main town (Ophylix) I just kind of thought of the overall theme of my town and looked at furniture I wanted then I themed rooms to match the overall theme sorta. My mayor's house has a dining room, kitchen, tea room, bedroom, bathroom, then a room with all my villager photos on display.

My second town (Olympus) is like nautical/Greek mythology based on a story idea I had at the time. Her house is very blue and has a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and a little sitting room right now. Idk what I'm gonna do with the other rooms yet.

Osaka is a zen/autumn town, and I'm going to make one room a classroom, so then the kitchen will be like a cafeteria, then she'll have a bedroom, bathroom and tea room all with a lot of orange, red, and yellow colors and be kind of naturey but more autumn-y.

Noel is going to be a Christmas town, but the characters are based off the TV show Miraculous Ladybug, so their houses will correspond to their characters. Like the mayor will have a bakery and whatnot.

Camellia is going to be a natural, foresty type town, somewhat tropicalish. The mayor of that one I actually moved out of Ophylix, and her house is very tropical and was meant to be like a tropical hotel, so the main room is like the check-in/lobby, there's two actual hotel rooms, an outdoor cafe, and a gift shop.

Basically, I just think of a theme, look at furniture and then think about what I can do with that furniture.

I don't have a theme of a typical house (like with a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom) but try to set a theme for each room. Right now, since I'm trying to collect entire sets, my themes are based on each set. So my downstairs main room has all the alpine pieces I have, plus other pieces for a "cozy" theme. Upstairs has all my princess items + some regal, so that is like a parlour. And downstairs has pieces from the Welcome Amiibo set that I wanted to show (like the Boston Bag, Natural Lamp, etc.) so it's got all my cabana items + Welcome Amiibo items for a bedroom/comfortable theme.

My house hasn't a real theme, it's just...like a house. But, in town, there's also a Princess-themed house and a hotel-themed house.
