How do you tell how close you are?

I've understood for a long time now that villagers give you their picture after getting high enough friend points with them. What I don't understand is how long I should wait or what the triggers are to tell me when I'm close.

Do they exist? I'd like to know, since I'm pretty close to getting them with some villagers and I'm not sure if I am exactly there yet or not...

Apologies in advance if the question was answered in the main sticky up top. I couldn't find it myself.

I don't think there is a way.. I know that after not seeing the villager for 3 weeks the friendship drops to the lowest level.. so maybe after 3 weeks it reaches the highest level? No idea ;s

You can also shout to your villagers with the megaphone while they're on your screen. The responses will indicate how far you are with his or her friendship. If they look surprised and look around, it's still low. If they respond back with a smile or a nod you're halfway. If they whistle and wave their hands, your friendship is high.

So the items listed there, whatever they give me and not what's at the party, that's what gauges our friendship? So, in the end, that means I'll get a photo from them if they move? Hm, that makes sense.

I've had that happen at least twice now! Tipper was one of them, so that means I'm close with her.
She just tried to move out today too and I said no...
So I guess it's time for me to move her out, haha.

All the indicators mentioned above are a good way to tell, but keep in mind they still might not give it to you until they move out. I had Pango at a high friendship level for months and she only sent me her pic once she left. I've only had Pekoe for a few weeks and she gave me her picture yesterday.

Or if you TT to April 1st and complete Blanca's 'duplicated villager game' correctly, the villager will give you their pic, regardless of your friendship level XD
