But aren't color and colour pronounced exactly the same, except "colour" would be said in a British accent, obviously? XD That's just spelling, not pronunciation. Spelling isn't nearly as important to foreign words as pronunciation is. Take foreign words adapted into the Japanese language, for example. Obviously, no words keep their original spelling, since Japanese doesn't use roman characters. Instead they use hiragana and katakana, symbols that represent different syllables, not individual letters. While some words may have the same spelling when romanized from katakana, like マリオ would be romanized as "Mario", the same spelling in any roman alphabet, most words have a different spelling when romanized directly, because the Japanese language uses syllables, not letters. Examples include ゼルダ (Zelda, romanized as "Zeruda"), カービィ (Kirby, romanized as "Kābī"), ソニック (Sonic, romanized as "Sonikku"), and many, many more. You're also technically supposed to pronounce karaoke "kah-rah-oh-kay", since it's from Japan, but almost no one does that. I don't see why Pokemon is any different. Words adapt so that they blend well with the rest of the language.
