so i’ve got a question for you all; do you prepare/set up for a new villager moving to your island ? i’m not big into having villagers move in and out often, and i’ve had my second villager move out recently, Reneigh, and Biskit is moving in tomorrow, and it got me thinking if anyone does anything special for a new villager moving in ?

I prepare a housewarming gift! Apparently a lot of people don't like to "mess up" their neighbors houses, but I look up what their houses look like, then pick a gift that I think fits ☺ For instance, I made Plucky a Coconut Juice (fits her house theme perfectly!) and made Flurry a white sled.

I also may fix up the area outside their house to fit them better, though I'm never in a hurry to do that.

I don't do anything special, though I do like to have my villagers have a fitting area/theme to go with their houses. I'll change some of the outside fencing/decorations/flowers to fit the villagers color scheme or theme. Rarely I find myself wanting to move an entire house location if I feel it would better suited somewhere else for the villager (like for Dobie, I kind of want to move him somewhere secluded from the other houses just because he seems like a hermit to me)

there isn't anything I do when a new villager moves onto my island. I didn't give them enough space for yards, and I am too lazy/busy to even think of housewarming gifts, so I just let them move-in and that's that.

Only thing I do is look at the interior and exterior of their houses so I can get whatever furniture I will use to decorate their yards.

I usually clear out any decorations from around the plot. It takes some time for me to fill them back in, but I think it clears my mind and visual field to figure out what works for the new personality and new house exterior. I left things after a they moved a few times and it never seemed to fit the new villager, but I never came up with better ideas.

Yes. When I hop islands I get sticks to make wreaths. I give the new member a wreath to welcome them to my cult. I mean island. Yeah. That. Lol.

In the earlier days of my town I'd like to make sure that the area where their plot is has some plants and a few outdoor furniture around it, and is not too far from another villager. Now that my town is mostly developed, I don't really prepare that much. Sometimes I will switch plots with each other (I'll look up the new villager's exterior and decide in which neighborhood it would be the best fit), but otherwise I don't do anything. Ankha was the exception I guess because I created a special Egyptian oasis for her.

I have been decorating and piling up clothing in Marina's yard in anticipation for Melba's amiibo I ordered off ebay months ago that is supposed to arrive by the 9th. In the event it never actually gets here, which is a very real possibility considering the timeframe, I suppose I'll just go pay for Melba from someone here lol. In any case I'm prepping big time for her.

For the most part I don't prep yards - that's something I don't typically worry about until after the villager arrives and gets settled and I decide I like them enough for the yard to be worth building. I do, however, take villagers to Harv's on their first day and try on clothes with them, so I know what kind of clothing to gift them before somebody decides to drop 'em an instant-muscles suit lol

I talk to the one that is moving out before they leave because i’m weak and can’t not say goodbye. After that (if the new villager is a dreamie) i make them a backyard based on their personality.
