Hi there!

I am currernlty building my line up of villagers that I would like on my island! Right now, I am having a little trouble choosing who I would like. I really like the peppy, normal, and nature themed villagers but also want to keep my town interesting as well as balanced when referring to gender. Any advice/ how did you guys pick villagers!?

Have a great day!

I like to keep mine balanced by personality. However, I try to keep myself open to surprises. If I'm looking at villagers on Nook Miles islands and think "I would really miss this villager if I don't invite them" that's a sign I should at least really think about inviting them, even if they don't quite fit into my existing plans.

I have invited villagers based off of aesthetic and if I think they would fit well in a natural/forest village. (But I also have and adore Pietro, who is the last villager one would probably think of when they think "natural".)

definitely you need a balance of personality, otherwise it can feel like you’re talking to the same person!

For me personally I just pick them based on their look/design. I don't care too much about having different personality types and I'm fine with having 3 or 4 villagers with the same personality so it really depends what ur personal preference is :)

I like variety, so it's important for me to have all the eight different personalities. For me, a factor I kind of took into consideration is their house interior. It's just my preference, but I love the villagers that have a house that is decorating nicely. It also comes down to how they look and whether they would fit the vibe of my island! :)

I always make sure I get one villager of each personality. I look at each personality's villager list and choose two or three I like the most, then I check which of those would fit into my island plans. Interior doesn't matter as much unless it's super jarring, exterior is more important to figure out where to put them.

I also try not to have villagers I had in my New Leaf towns. Bye Genji. :(

I just go by looks. 😅 It has worked pretty well... I didn't even know about personality in New Leaf and ended up with a nice mix. I do lean towards normal villagers, but 2 or 3 is fine. Not sure I could take 3 peppies or jocks, though.

i have 1 of each type, then an extra of a male and female, so ultimately 5 males and 5 females.
I have a theme for my island so I am trying to get villagers that fit the theme.
