Sharks are worth as much as the beetles.

Incorrect. The golden stag and horned Hercules are 12K bells each. Catch the normal "shark" and you get 15K. Also, you get 13K if you catch a whale shark. And don't cut all the trees in the middle. You get a rainbow stag (yellowish) and giant stag (purpleish) that can only be found on the island and not on palm trees. Worth 10K each. Also, these prices can be higher with the bell ordinance.

I usually sell beetles, fruits, anything I don't want, honestly. Sometimes, if your storage is getting full, you can sell what you don't want or need. Beetles has been the best way though. And sharks.

i honestly only have really done the island thing, and 100 mil seems impossible with ~10 mil in my bank rn :-/ i wouldn't really even need any more bells, i just want to have the badge lol

I island farm but it takes so long and is so tedious, so I haven't in a while. It's killed my enjoyment of the game a little because the home deco bit of the game is my favourite, but it takes forever to pay down the loan for upgrades without going to the island.

i used to go beetle hunting on the island all the time! (also, my tip for bug catching is to dig a hole right in front of the palm tree- this way, you'll know when to swing the net without scaring the beetles) i used this method for (too) many years, but its very frustrating because the island box can only hold so many beetles and retail does eventually close for the night...

in my new town, i've resorted to using the beetle money as a type of 'base' money that i use for buying turnips.
i have 2 3dses, and each of them have a copy of acnl on them. when i get a good price in one of my towns, i'll use the base money to buy turnips and sell them in the other town! it's way easier and it's saved me alot more time. it's hard to get a good price in acnl while having simultaneously boughten turnips the sunday before, so i'm lucky my sister gave me her 3ds.

I really just use the island method. Sometimes it can get repetitive and incredibly boring but it makes good money.
