Really sorry if something like this has been asked before, but I'm dying. Recently, in my main town, I've been redoing practically everything, from moving pwps around, chopping and replanting trees, and moving my hybrids. The problem is, the latter two? I'm not so good at. Trees aren't really as concerning for me right now, since I have a good few already planted around town. My issue currently is that I have no idea what I should do with my flowers... I've been growing a lot of hybrids and storing them on my beach for a loooong time - mostly while I was moving pwps - and now that my town is getting closer to being finished, I really want to actually use them. But I'm not very creative when it comes to actually putting them down in my town in cute and interesting ways! I mostly just... alternate different colors of the same type of flower in a diagonal line. I'm not really sure how to spice it up, and it's looking pretty dull.
So tl;dr I could really use some inspiration! How do you all lay out your flowers in your towns? Please feel free to share images, if you can!
I have all white flowers, I lined the paths with each one type, then repeated the pattern.
Then, going off from the paths, I did one of each type. It looks random, but all flower types are separate and being used. Probably not very helpful but that's how I did it.
I like placing them across and alternating either bushes or trees.
For example, one flower then a bush, then a flower, then a bush.
Or a flower, then a tree, then a flower, then a tree.
I also really like to stick with a color pallet to make it look all more put together. Overall my town is purplish.... however there where some areas that I combined the purple with black flowers or purple with yellow flowers, and those looked pretty nice
That has infinite variety. It depends on how you want your town look and how your garden is right now, I think. If you have a DA updated, I'd be interested in visiting and hit you up with some of ideas though!
I do a couple of different things. I start by lining my paths and for that I like to pick a few colors and alternate between flowers and bushes or flowers and trees/bamboo.
Then, I try to fill in areas around buildings and pwps. I start by planting trees, bamboo, and/or bushes around the area to create some kind of structure to work with. They may be spread out or in a perfect line, depending on whether I want the area to look perfectly manicured or more natural or somewhere in between. Then, I select a few different types/colors of flowers and try to create an interesting pattern. I've done diagonal lines, diamond patterns, or alternating rows (ex: the first row is blue and purple, the next row is white and pink).
If I want the area to look really natural, I select at least 4 or 5 different types and colors of flowers and plant them so that no two matching flowers are touching each other. I find this strategy really works for a forest or meadow area.
@Snowesque Oh, that sounds really pretty actually! Honestly yesterday I started considering reducing the colors I'm using in my town, since right now it's a little overwhelming, so I might have to try something similar if I do!
@Bluebelle Ah that sounds pretty neat! I feel like doing something like that might help my town feel less empty, too, since there'd be a lot more trees! But omg you're so right, I love how well the purple flowers go with other colors, I especially love purple-black and purple-orange combos~

@carackobama Honestly? I tend to change my aesthetic every time the grass changes, wHEEZES. I think I'm going to try to keep it pastel-themed, though, mostly focusing on pink, white, and blue. Kind of bummed, though, since although I love blue flowers, all of them seem too dark next to my paths.
@LadyDestani Oooo I really like how you described making a more natural looking area! I've always seen DA towns with seemingly random flower layouts and they always look so good, but I've never really known where to start doing something similar!
Normally I really can't be bothered to arrange my flowers. But the one time I did (in my first main NL town), I had flowers bordering all the paths and surrounding all of the ponds.
