How do you landscape your town?

I started my current town by copying the map in Excel, then using that to come up with a layout and then adding tiles so I know where to put things in-game when I don't have access to the map.

For the most part, it's worked pretty well, but I'm worried one of the areas I want to put a house won't actually work, and that I'll have to move villagers out and redo parts of my layout. :/

As for details, I've been trying to put things into "blocks", which is really easy with the Excel map. I tried to make the blocks as big as possible so I don't waste space with paths, and tried to sort of group things together, so my town buildings (Re-Tail, Caf?, Train Station, Police Station + Town Plaza) are all on one half of the town, and the houses are mostly on the other half, plus they're in rows.

I was originally going to have natural paths, too, so I have lots of bushes as borders for the blocks, but I think I will add paths. Still, they do look neat, so I will definitely keep them.

As for colors, I'm focusing mostly on warm colors, I guess, but I do have some areas that differ or where I'm not sure what colors will be there yet.

My towns have some paths, but not too much. I like some natural grass showing. I like them to be clean, organized and simple. I also like to make things that no one else has. Like a lemonade stand, ice rink, chicken coop, fruit stand.

Well, Bunifrey doesn't have an orchard, but I only have bamboo, pine, and perfect apple trees and I have enough space to shake those trees and replenish my apple stock. The rest of the town has rows of roses in as close an approximation to the spectrum of a rainbow as possible.

Balamb WAS complete, but I'm currently trying to rebuild all my PWPs, and trying to decide what color combinations I want to use for flowers. Right now I'm thinking blue, purple and maybe black and/or orange roses. And Gemedet...that one doesn't even have the villagers I want yet, so I'm not even thinking about that one, really.

I'll probably start work on landscaping my hubby's towns too, just to give me something to do and keep me playing.

I love this idea and I actually attempted to do it, but something always seemed off. I would start with the train station then the other buildings and idk it just didn't look right to me, grid wise. maybe I'll give it another try since it would really be a big help towards landscaping. XD

Exactly what I'm going through right now. demolishing and rebuilding pwps, figuring out color combinations and which flowers to put where. Ah my town is such a mess atm from all of it XD.

for lumatown... flowers, flowers everywhere. there are some flowerbeds around town that have a few bushes surrounding them, or a pwp in the middle... and there's a few in lumatown that are where they are just because there was nothing else i could put there.

there's also a different theme for each half of the town - zen pwps in the southeastern half, illuminated pwps in the northwestern half.

yessss flowers everywhere. that's exactly what I vision for my town, since overall I'd like it to be a natural, forest/garden theme. I do love the idea of different themes in different halts though.

Seems like pwps are a definite first then flowers/bushes/trees etc.. I should probably work on that so I stop wasting so many bush starts lol.

I have paths all over my town. I have a area sectioned off for my fruit orchard, where two of every fruit tree will be organized. I have an orchard of perfect peaches surrounding my house.havent thought much about flower arrangement in my town yet though.

I was going to explain it all... I recently had a massive overhaul of Bevelle... it's probably easier if you visit my DA tbh :)

I'm also using only specific colors of flower in my town, and I don't regret it one bit - my flowers are yellow, orange, red, and pink.

I laid down my paths first, then figured out where my PWPs would go - that way, I could put my paths in the most convenient and straightforward routes possible. I'm not waiting for dreamies before landscaping, though. I like the challenge of adapting my design to my villagers.

My only advice about orchards (because I actually don't have any) is that it can be useful to always have some of each of the five fruits around, for fulfilling villager requests.

Just my two bells.

Most of my paths are laid. The only time I ever lay new ones is if a new villager has moved in. That is what I use as the basis for my town. All of my PWPs are decided based on where my paths already are.

I also really love to decorate with flowers. I have flowers around everyone's houses and all my PWPs. They're a free, easy way to make the town pretty. Plus, it's funny when the villagers say they've heard a rumor that I'm a flower fan. lol

Having the Beautiful Town Ordinance helps a lot with the flowers and lack of weeds, too.

i just recently got all my villagers in and im starting to landscape, although i find it very stressful and its hard on my OCD. Im planning on just making paths with clovers, with trees and hydrangea bushes making the paths, and im probably going to stick with using jacobs ladders and white carnation for the main flowers, and certain areas will have a variety of flowers, for example im wanting to create a little rose garden area with the flower arch. does anyone else find landscaping stressful? :(

Yes. Yesx100000. mainly why I started the thread hahah. my ocd isn't like ridiculous, but it's bad enough that I end up spending hours upon hours re arranging flowers and paths (some pwps don't line up right with buildings/paths. hate that). and then I'll check an area later only to find random regular flowers my villagers have planted and watered. aaaahh D:
Definitely a struggle.

I'm really borning. I usually find a pattern I like and stick with it for individual sections. And try to make the sections match up. For example, I choose to have my beach decorated with yellow, pink and white daisies because they look like bannanas. I also added stone eggs because they also match. I also try to see if what I work with look nice together. That's probably why I like daisies so much, I like how the center has another color another daisy matches with, for example orange and black daisies. I'm going to try and not do this too much for my second town.

I cut down every single tree in my town and picked up every flower, I put paths down and then I lined them with trees/bushes. I tried to do the orchards but because I cycle many of them have been destroyed in the process :c I arranged my flowers by color (not type) and then I have two areas for hybrids. I got most of my supplies from the island (stealing flowers/fruit from games), collecting the bush starts took me forever though lol
