I've become a bit demotivated with my town. How do you keep going?

I've not had a PWP suggested for over a month (I've only had three suggestions from villagers since I started playing at the beginning of March).

No villager has ever given me their picture. I've tried really hard with this.

Somedays I just feel my town is broken!

I've also abandoned a couple of landscaping projects due to rocks being in the way.

When you feel like this, how do you keep going?

wish i knew, i burnt out on 5 copies and now im sick of even looking at AC lel, even tho i have so much to do
sigh
someone tell us rofl

Personally, I don't actually work very much on my town, and I just wait for inspiration to come. I've been playing since the game first came out, and my town is far from perfect, but it's slowly starting to shape up. I'd just say not to worry about it too much, and try to enjoy the game otherwise. c:
You could also visit dream towns for inspiration, plus you'll see there are ways to work around or with the rocks.

If it's really that bad, maybe restart? You could also use the swimming trick to try and get villagers to request more PWPs. And with the pictures, it does take a bit of effort to get your first one, but don't give up! It took me a few months to get Marshal's pic, although he was my favorite villager and I'd basically had him since the beginning (he was my smug move-in).

i got my first pic from just getting signatures so maybe you should do that :3

As for getting requests for PWPs, if you go swimming for around 5 minutes a villager should ping you about it. It's also best if you empty all your pockets including bells so that they won't ping you to buy/sell something. It has worked for me a couple of times =) . Of course they can also ping you for stuff like a new catchphrase which is annoying :/ lol

I see other people's towns and think wow, their town is so good..
So I think of ways to make mine better, and I use that as a motivation. :3

This is my answer as well. All I want to do now is make a town that I can simply have fun in. At the same time, I kept comparing my town to others and felt like I was wasting time on the game. One day I just thought, I just want to play the game and now I'm building my original town back up.

I just try to find small goals and slowly work toward that one thing then when it's done do another one.
Or do two or three small goals at once.
If you try to do too much or too many big things at once you'll just overwhelm yourself and get burnt out quickly.
It's all about baby steps really.

And suggestion on the pictures I have?
Whenever they want fruit always give them the perfect of that fruit. And if they just want any fruit, give them a non-native perfect fruit.
Julian is always asking me for fruit... think the poor thing would starve without me... anyways, I got his photo in no time because I always gave him perfects. ^-^

making up interactions between villagers helps motivate me to keep playing, home renovating, and landscaping then looking at the finished result yk

looking at ****ty dreamtowns does too lmao

I guess doing favors for my villagers and visiting dreams keeps me coming back. In terms of town work, I haven't done much since I haven't gotten a single PWP suggestion in a while.

Don't forget that sometimes villagers are stingy with their pics. Sometimes they don't give it to you until they move. And then once Claudia, who I didn't think I was THAT good of friends with, gave me 2!

But actually, I just get on the game and then I'm addicted all over again each time.

Sometimes I get really motivated again when I go to the Island and want to get medals for all the cool stuff I don't have yet. Also, the catching of bugs and fish and now diving (which I seldom did before) is motivating me to get higher levels of badges.

I spend more time on the forum than I do actually playing the game, so I (unintentionally) don't get tired of it.

I do it for my villagers. I'll keep them happy and continue to build my town around them.

I don't rush projects, instead taking my time. If there's an item I want to get for my home, I wait until it pops up in my (or my boyfriend's) shop. That way I learn to be patient. I've been wanting a windmill forever, but no ping for it yet. That's okay, I'll wait and do something else in the meantime. I don't do turnips (yet, I want that badge eventually), so I end up spending an hour or so in the evening on the island still.

I love landscaping, so that helps. Also, keeping my town fresh by not keeping all of the same villagers or obsessing too much about placement, because the changes that new neighbors bring force me to readjust things on the fly. But I'm the kind of person that gets extremely bored in games if everything follows a predictable plan, so ymmv.

Setting goals. House decor goals, town decor goals (flowers, paths, etc), badge goals, dream villager goals, museum goals,...just whatever I feel like focusing on. Mainly I've been focusing on my catalog so I can easily help others out with items they can't find. I also really have fun doing cataloging events or giveaways which usually keeps me pretty interested.

Competition. I see a lot of ACNL bloggers that have a better, more developed town then I do, and y'know. Yeah.

I have so many projects going on that I stay motivated. The ones that keep me going right now are finishing my town. I need 4 more pwp suggestions that I'd like in my town so I have areas blocked off with paths where they will go. I also am working on getting my 4th character's house paid off so I can finish her house (it's going to be a villager picture house in all but the main room, and the rest of the villager pics are in another characters house.) I did my museum rooms they way I'd like them on the 2nd floor. I'm also missing a handful of fish/bugs so am working on that as well. Your best bet at getting villager pics is honestly just being bff's with them. Talk to them all the time and do things for them. Send them letters and presents at least once a week. I've been playing almost a year and have only gotten 4 pics this way but it makes it more special if you have to work for it. Best of luck. Hope this helps!!!
