I like Chess enough to know all the rules and see the appeal, but not quite enough to learn actual strategy. It’s more fun for me to play without a plan and blindside the opponent with whatever move aesthetically pleases me XD

Thats not a bad way to start in my opinion. It actually gives you some insight on how others react and then you can actually form a strategy that works! Its ultimately a game, so play how you want and have fun!

I am the same. I think I am good until someone who is ACTUALLY good stomps the pants off me so I am in your boat... not great but not the worst. If you are interested in playing let me know! I am a good sport... if I win, I will never rub it in. If I lose, I will always praise you and analyze how you did it with appreciation

I remember in secondary school trying to learn it with a friend, there was a chess club but had very little people involved.
I still don't know how each piece moves, and that's not even trying to think strategically on where to move next.

I don't think I'll ever play, but it's a nice board game. I remember watching the Netflix drama show, that was interesting.
