How do you decide your dream villagers?

I remember 2 years ago, I was looking through all the villagers of the animal types I liked. For example; I looked under "Cats". Merry and Rosie were cute and adorable to me (Still are) so I chose them. I looked under the squirrels and instantly fell in love with Marshal and Mint, etc. I didn't know what "tiers" were back then, or how popular they were. I just instantly fell in love with how cute they were.

I also actually found Fauna in a dream town and absolutely LOVED her. She's been in my town ever since.

Kiki and Mitzi have always been in my old towns, so I wanted to have them in my current town, too. It was like having my besties back, you know? However, it's funny, Kiki always eventually moved away. Just yesterday, Kiki did just that. I'd say I had a good run with her though. Two years with her? Totally worth it. Luckily my friend from Kyushu had free space and adopted her, so I feel a lot better knowing she went to a good home.

Punchy's special in that, I always wanted him ever since I was a kid playing AC on the GCN, but he never ever moved into any of my towns. So he was like this unobtainable, super special villager. I finally got him a couple years ago and he's been with me since. He went above and beyond my expectations, he's so cute and sweet. Definitely don't want him to ever leave.

Julian's kinda... hm... I dunno', he just stood out among the new crop of NL villagers. I fell head over heels for Colton and the smug personality in general and I thought Julian would make a great compliment to Colton. They're neighbors, even! It's so nice. I love him, worth all the time spent lurking for him in a cycling thread ages ago.

So basically, I guess all of my dreamies would be considered "popular" in some way or another, but it's entirely coincidence. I love them genuinely.

Its sort of a mixture of the first 3. My first town is all pink and super cute, so I picked cute villagers. Some were villagers I had encountered in previous games, such as Chrissy, Francine and Cheri. Hamlet was a starter, and I love hamsters so I kept him. Deer are so adorable and a wonderful new species to the game, so when Diana and Fauna appeared at the campsite, I immediately moved them in as well.

In my second town, because it has a forest/garden type theme, I picked villagers by theme. I wanted woodland type animals, so I picked from deer, squirrels, ducks and a few others I didn't have already in my first town. Flurry is in both my towns, because she is my very favourite villager, and I love her so much <3

for me, it's an ever changing list. Mostly though, any from the unchanging part of the list are villagers that I loved in past games

It's a combination between the first and the second alternative (seen and read about them in the wiki). But I chose the second anyway because that's the case with most of my dreamies. And because of that I guess that it's possible that my list will change in the future. I meand.. there's a chance that I won't click with some of them

I voted other because I pick villagers based on who I think is the cutest in my opinion.

I had Lily in my City Folk town & Savannah in my Wild World town and loved them both.
Marshal was in my campsite one day before I joined TBT, and I thought he was adorable and invited him to move in. I had no idea about tiers or popularity.
For the rest, I just scrolled through the wiki by personality & picked villagers I thought were cute.

I always just kept whatever the game gives me. I'm very attached to my villagers that I've had for so long. I do have two towns that have all one species. I chose dogs and hamsters because I think they're adorable.

I restarted my daughters town yesterday ( she didn't care ) and my new town had Eric and Bruce. It's my first time getting deer villagers. I can see why people like them so much. Then someone very nice let me adopt Bam. I think I would like an all deer village.
