I've honestly been trying to decide what villager I want in Drowsy for probably weeks or months now. I finally moved out Dora, one of the two villagers I am letting go of, and now I just have no idea who to replace her with!!
I've already looked at pretty much every villager out there, and I just can't make up my mind!!
My problem is that I love almost every villager. Seriously, they're all so cute! I made myself narrow it down to two dreamies: Bubbles & Deli. Even though I really wanted almost every hippo, gorilla, alligator, frog, bear, and some chickens. It was getting ridiculous. Bubbles is definitely the most important.
Having a theme really helps. In my old town, I wanted a town with five bunnies and five cats. I still struggled choosing dreamies because I ♥ all of the cats and rabbits, but it still helped to narrow it down to two species.
In this town, my overall themes are "memory" and FFIX, so choosing dreamies was surprisingly easy! For example, there are two jesters in FFIX named Zorn and Thorn. I chose Pietro and Marcel as dreamies because of their jester-like appearances. Sterling and Knox are knights, so that fits in both with the "memory"/historical theme and FFIX. Ankha and Coco are both reminiscent of the past, so they fit the "memory" theme too. My only villagers who don't fit either theme are Kiki, Purrl, and Ruby, but I will have those three in any of my towns no matter what. Purrl because she was my first Animal Crossing bff, Kiki because she looks like my real life pet cat, and Ruby because she's a lunar rabbit and I tend to choose usernames that have something to do with the moon or rabbits on any site I'm registered on.
Idk... you kinda just need to find the ones that speak to you. A lot of them may look cool/cute, but there are definitely some gems among the cotton candy
I'm not that discriminate with dreamies or as I call them, perma-villagers. Most are just ones with appealing designs, but some are for more personal reasons.
Flurry because she reminds me of my hamster Imogen from when I was a teenager. And Ruby and Genji because if they had a baby, I think it would look a lot like my Bun Bun, and I made Bunifrey as a memorial for her so those two were very fitting.

step 3. Missing none? Then choose favorite personality
step 4. Eliminate the ones that are your favorite personality
step 5. Choose between those and ask for opinions

Step 3. Have less? Then choose missing personalities and your favorites
Some of my dream villagers have special meaning to me.
For example; Tangy was the first villager I saw when I loaded up my first save file in Wild World, so she's special to me for that reason.
Skye, Fauna, Beau, Zell, Bruce and Lopez are special to me as well, for various reasons. Plus, deers are my favourite animal, so I guess it's not that surprising that I have a fair amount of them living in my town.
When choosing my dream villagers, I chose ones that I thought were cute/had meaning for me. It's definitely hard to slim the dream villager list down to 10 villagers only, but I guess it's manageable.
Thank you for this- I've definitely been nervous about picking too many of the same personality types, as I'm very partial to uchi and normal villagers especially. But at the end of the day, as long as they make me happy, it doesn't really matter, and if I find them to be stale, I can just let them go.
Eh, i mean I mainly look for a few things. If they fit enough cirteria they pass.
Firstly, are they unique? I'm cycling for Julian cause he's a unicorn, specifically got stitches, ankha, and coco due to how unique they were, and what they looked like.
I also look to see their personality. It's the reason Stitches is one of my favourite villagers. Unique, lazy personality, and looks adorable.
For me it was the first 4-5 villagers I got when I first started playing this series. I literally had no idea with what I was doing at first then I got to know them. One of my first 5 was Lucky and I have a Yorkie poo named Lucky which is why he holds a special place in my heart. Also, it depends on what they like since I had Leonardo once and he likes volleyball and I like tigers! What I mostly look for is design and the type of species.
Well, remember that they don't have to be permanent. I have about 6 permanent villager, I'm cycling for Genji and then he will be permanent as well. The other 3 will be swapped out as and when I feel like changing things. The 16 villager cycle is easy enough to do if you have other villagers you like, so even if you let somebody go and decide you want them back, you can do that.
I write down all the personalities and look at all the pwps that they give. This usually determines how many of each villager type I should get but sometimes I break the rules to get another animal I like lol
So if the list went like this:

If you are not fond of one personaity type you could erase that one and replace that with a village that you like.
Now, go to the wiki a and start from the top. So I would start with searching up all the normal villagers. I mainly look at designs. Then I would pick to a write them down. And repeat.
