There are never, imo, too many cycling threads unless everybody here who wants certain villagers has them and there are no more requests. Then and only then are there too many. There is a demand and a want; so no, I don't think there are too many.
Also, some people cycle for free. If I ever want to get Lucky, for example, I'll either never be on with someone who is giving him away or else I'll likely never have enough bells. Only if I get very lucky (no pun intended) and get him thru some miracle, there can never be too many. Imo.
Aaaand I'm going to agree with this. I actually think it's sorta rude to say that there are "too many"? What does that even mean? Too many people giving a free service from the generosity of their hearts? My
lord.
Now, I suppose I can understand disliking a lot of separate threads, but... What's the harm, really? So you may have to dig for threads. I can't imagine that's the worst thing in the world. You go back a page or two. Some people like working alone, or have certain reasons to, or whatever. It's fine to disagree with that method, but I'm certainly not complaining about it, seeing as it's what I'll be doing at first. I wouldn't really criticize cyclers unless the people themselves were rude, which I have yet to encounter.
As for how I plan to be doing it, I'll be using either bamdom @ Tumblr's method, or just going strictly one day at a time. I asked someone for some advice, and they said the ignoring method wasn't the best, but rather to talk to them once in a while and then cancel the conversation so they'll still ping you, but won't go anywhere on the friendship ladder.
Anyway. It's funny how you call cyclers selfish when they're doing one of the least selfish things I can think of, which is getting people their dreamies and seeing that people are happy. So they don't want to group up? So what? I can see threads I need to see just fine. Now, I mean, if there are certain people that do it for... Well... I don't know, NOT getting people dreamies, then yes, that would be selfish. But so far, all I've seen is kindness and generosity.
My apologies if I seem snippy. I don't particularly intend for it, I just don't think it's fair that some of the most generous people get criticized because there are... "Too many". Like, would that also mean that there are too many people that do giveaways? :/ Just putting it into perspective.
