So, how do you come up with new catchphrases, greetings and all that stuff? I have sUCH a hard time thinking of one.

So, I wonder, how do you guys do it? Sometimes I feel so bad when I say I don't want to give them a new greeting :c

I try to give species specific or villager specific catchphrases and greetings. For example,my Gaston's greeting is usually something like "What's up,Doc?" or "Bonjour, lapin jaune"(Hello, yellow rabbit) since he's supposed to be French. His catchphrase is currently "bunnyman" since he's a bunny and I'm a big Echo & The Bunnymen fan.

With greetings I just stick with 1-3 phrases I like. Depends on what language I like that month lol and whether or not they're boy or girl characters. Like recently, with girls I made then say salut, and boys I made them say bonsoir, since I usually play at night :)

Usually though with catchphrases, I try to stick with one or two, mainly one though since they like to take each others catchphrases and use them as their own. For example, I used to make Elvis say rawr, but then Mira started saying rawr, which was cute and everything picturing a real bunny saying rawr lol, but I wanted her to say star power, so that didn't work out for long.

You don't have to feel bad btw, you can just select ok to change it, but then just select continue and they'll still be happy. It just seems like you changed it for them, but you didn't at all.

I use random ones sometimes. But in my town Pinksies I'm trying to get everyone to say "Pinkers".

I just choose the catchphrases based on the animal species/theme that they have. For example since Kitt is a kangaroo, I told her to say "Down Under". I also had Eugene say "Grease Lightning" because he's a greaser. :)

whatever goes with them or what i find cute, like "clover" or "timburr/timber."

Ugh I dread when they ask that. Usually whatever I'm eating or watching on tv gets put out there. Lots of mine say pizza. Mostly I type in their old one and they still get happy. Do they even know??!!

I tell them to say pretty much what everyone else does in relation to how they come up with their greetings and catchphrases. It is really all dependent upon my relationship with the villager, their species, clothing, personality, etc. For example, my Shep greets me with, "Look, a Frisbee!", Ankha calls me "Pharaoh", and Phoebe greets me with, "Ashes to Ashes." Really, just make it feel personal in relation to that character and I believe you will find that the villagers you do so with give off more of a closer or personal relationship. But don't take my word for it. Reading Rainbow~

I usually just go with the first thing that comes to mind. The majority of my villagers steal each other's catchphrases anyway. Right now I think 4-5 of them say, "Sit on it!" after suggesting it to only one of them (I had just watched several episodes of Happy Days ).

To be honest, it depends on the villager. Kiki is always asking me for bugs and fish, so I like to think she's into science, so I like giving her phrases like: in the name of science. Kyle is always talking about dancing, and how he was in a rock band, so often I'll give him phrases about a band or dancing. I don't like Becky at all so I'll have her say: leave me alone or something sometimes. I actually really like the catchphrases.

I like to try to fit their character. For Ankha her greeting is "I'm your Queen" and her catchphrase is "bow to me." If I can't think of something for them, I like to just pick something that would be funny. I would like to change some of their catchphrases. I can't think of something fun for Sly, so right now I think he just says "sneaky."

It tends to depend on the theme the villager already has. Gladys, for instance, has a Japanese-esque theme so I tended to look up common Japanese greetings for her (such as 'Saikin do!'). Her catchphrase, as well, was kept to a similar theme. Since she seemed very proper, I kept it to things like,"so so!' and things like that. I changed Felicity's catchphrase to 'my my!'. As long as it seems fitting to their character, that's how I change it.

I don't!

When they want to change it I give them the exact same one and they're like YAS MAYOR SO NEW AND FRESH THANK YOU

I try to pick something related to the animal in Japanese, such as sounds, appearance, or behaviour.

Some catchphrases are from animes.. like for Coco, she says, "Dango" because of the Dango Family in Clannad.. and Maple says "uguu" because that's what is said by one of the characters (forgot her name) in Kanon (2006.)

If I ever get Pinky or any white bear or bear-like creature, theirs will be "sparkle" because of Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus.

//nerd talk over

I just get them from movies, shows, and songs.
