How do you bump a thread, it always just auto-merges my comment into the last one i left?

Title says it all, i see people replying to their own thread with "bump" to bump it up to the front of the forum. How do you do this?

I think automerge happens in the span of 2 hours so only after 2 hours can you bump a thread without it automerging

Got it, thanks! I just read a rules thing that says a minimum of 4 hours before a bump so I'll follow that.
