Okay so, here’s the thing.
I’m currently finding it pretty tough to work with the layout of my town, so I was wondering if any of you would be able to give me advice on utilizing my layout properly, esp in terms of bridge placement, plot resetting etc?
I'm working on making my town very princessy and pretty, so I want more structure in my layout, so any advice that could help me achieve that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Leave your own town map if ya wanna.

it's a tricky question you are asking because it all depends on your personal preference. I could give you some ideas of what I would do if it were my town though.

1. I like how the villager homes are all spread out. As long as they aren't in front of anything like the shop or the town hall or my home, I think it's fun to let them put their homes wherever they want. Makes the town feel more natural that way.

2. the bridges are pretty nicely spaced and with a river of that size, I don't exactly see you needing 3. The way your home is isolated on that peninsula is nice, so I personally wouldn't put a bridge there.

3. the campground near the beach is a neat idea as well. I usually put my campground by the waterfall, but I can see how one near the beach can be alluring to others.

hmm... those are my personal thoughts. not sure what exactly you have planned for your town, but I'm sure whatever you choose to do, it will be fantastic

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback, sorry I didn't consider specifying properly lol.
I don't really wanna keep any of my current villagers, and since I'm doing like a princess-y town, I feel like it'd look a lot nicer if the villager house placement was more structured.
That's also why I'm asking about the bridge placement, since I feel like I'm not making the most of the space I have at the moment. For example, I could've used that long stretch of straight horizontal river to the bottom left of the map to create rows of houses, but I do still want at least two bridges to make traveling from beach to re-tail more convenient, if you catch my drift.

That actually looks great, thank you! I love the little group of houses at the bottom left, that'd be cuteeee

You're welcome! Here's one with a few more houses below the river (and with a less-wonky bottom road)

Wow I really like this layout. Definitely some potential here.

If this were my town, what I might do is place about 5 or so of the houses in that open field between the river, plaza/townhall, and pond. It seems like it would be good for a densely populated core. The other 5 houses could be scattered in various locations across the town. For the core, there could be stone or brick paths since this would be an area of high development.

I like the peninsula below where the river forms into a U shape. For this area, I would put a large PWP like the fountain, and plant a lot of bushes around it. Trees would be minimal as to not distract from the PWP. It would make a nice plaza. It would be very neat and orderly, since it would be right next to the main town area. Paths would be the same as the populated core since it's kind of an extension of that area.

The northwest area with the 3 ponds would be great for a natural looking meadow. Mostly flowers and maybe a few trees. No more than about 1 tree per every 5 tiles so it doesn't become too foresty. Dirt paths would be nice as it would look more natural, but still well maintained. One house might be able to go there and it would probably be a normal because it fits their personality.

The bottom part below the river would be great for a dense forest area. While the rest of the town would be light on trees, this would filled with trees and bushes to the point of being difficult to navigate. A couple houses could go here, maybe a cranky or lazy who might enjoy the solitude. Paths would go from dirt paths to no paths as density increases.

Man, this just made me want to get a second town. Feel free to use any of these ideas. Or don't. After all, it's your town and what happens with it is ultimately up to you. This is just what I would do had it been my layout.

One of the best things I did for my town was lining up most of the houses in a group in the bottom half of my town. It opened up so much space for PWPs that I didn't have before. I have a kind of weird river and trying to work with the placement of a lot of the villager houses that used to be in my town was an absolute nightmare. Now that 5 of my villagers (soon to be 7) all live down in the same area I have been able to develop areas I've always wanted to work on.

I'm definitely excited to see what you do with the 3 pond area. That's going to be so darling. I like Vulpixy's second map the best so far. I think it will give you the most bang for your buck in terms of PWP space in the north part of town and you might still be able to get some smaller ones in the south. I also agree only 2 bridges is necessary but you could put in a 3rd one leading to the Mayor's house and could do something cute with it, if you wanted all 3 bridges. That's what I would probably do if I had that space.

I certainly don't envy you with the dock being so far away from Re-Tail though lmaoooo.

This is mine! It has a very similar layout to yours so I thought it might help :)
