How do I stop Amiibo villager from moving in on the same spot as the old villager?

Sometimes they will move out on another spot but that is very rare unfortunately. 
It seems like they don't put their houses anymore on patterns so maybe you could prepare a spot for them and keep moving in and out until they choose to move into the desired spot.

There's no real way to prevent it. Last amiibo I moved in went to a new spot on the first try; the one before it took 30 resets.

The best way to prevent it is moving out the villager you want gone. Then place paths down on that left villager's house.

Cover every last inch of grass in patterns except the place you want them to go. jkjk, but try all these suggestions a public works project will be most likely to work since houses can't be put too close, also can I keep wisp in my inventory until I get a link amiibo?
