How did you decide on your town name?

Mine are probably silly-sounding to others, but for me they all have personal meanings. I name my towns and mayors after my ancestors, most whom I never knew and lived and/or died sadly and I want to honour them. I also chose a couple of family surnames that would fit and a couple fit together.

Roseberg - after my g-grandmother Rose and just threw 'berg' on the end
MaeRose - after my g-grandmother and my paternal grandmother
MaudRoss - after my paternal step-grandmother whose story is too sad for words and I wish to honour her
WolfKott - two family surnames
WolfRoss - family surname and step-grandmother's maiden name
Wolfberg - surname with 'berg' at the end
Chambers - gg-grandmother's maiden name

Hmmm...lots of "Wolf"s there! Well, at least it's short and it fits. :) "Kott" doesn't fit with anything and I cant add "berg" to it or it would sound TOO dumb even to me, and a "ville" or "shire" or "town" or "berg" wouldn't fit.

I named my town Rosefire. I used a generator. But it sounded so original, and I love the mix of rose and fire.

my first town was shared with my sister. we called it mt. fuji

we were playing a game that has a minigame where you play as mt. fuji, its just a mountain but the minigame is called "fuji" so uh. you move from side to side and shoot things that fall from the top i think? i dont remember very well but it was something like that

anyways we thought it was hilarious. i couldn't come up with any good names, i was thinking of naming it 'lake' or something like that but my sister didn't like it at all and pressured me to name the town mt. fuji

i hated the name at first because i couldnt take the game seriously(i kept laughing), but eventually i grew attached to it and when i reset i kept the name. it's silly but it comes with nice memories

I wanted a sweet-sounding town, so I thought of types of candy. "Starburst" wouldn't fit, so I made it Sunburst and it stuck.

*looks at Pokemon town names*

BASICALLY LOL

LilyCove sounded cute <3

I named my town Clouds because I thought it sounded cute and also I like Cloud Strife

Lancre is a tiny mountain kingdom in the Ramtop mountain range in DiscWorld.
There are better portrayals of Lancre found via dream address, but basically it's an area with a lot of magic and powerful witches.

RainDrop, I don't know how I came up with. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

My new cycling town is named Acacia because that's the family that Australia's floral emblem, Golden Wattle, belongs to.
I named its' mayor Wattle, and that's the only time I've followed a theme with both mayor and town name.
