how did you choose your island name?

I chose Mordor! I've been big into Lord of the Rings lately, as I went to New Zealand over Christmas break and got to do the studio tour of the Shire.

In hindsight, I wish I used Berk because How to Train Your Dragon is my favourite series of all time. I could have done a viking themed island.

Oh well. Maybe one day if I ever decide to reset.

My island is Triskelion, named after the SHIELD Headquarters. I'm slowly working on an MCU themed town, so it was fitting (and I thought something like 'New York' would have been too bland)

my previous island was called Nowhere, which was fine for a time but then i felt like it started to sound edgy and it ended up making me think of a darker themed island (not necessarily in themes but like, i felt compelled to use black and white flowers. that type of thing). i originally went with that name because i have many island themes id like to eventually try out over time, and the name "Nowhere" didnt feel like it was stuck to a theme. but since i wanted more vibrant, happy colors the name no longer suited me.

when i reset my save to my current one, i decided to keep the spirit of my deceased island and name my current one Anywhere. this name feels much more happy & positive compared to the last one, which is exactly what i wanted. i also think that even if i switch up my themes over the years, the core parts of my island will stay the same. overall, i feel like i couldnt come up with a more fitting name than this one. if i unfortunately have to reset or my save gets corrupted then i will definitely use this name again.

mine is so plain and basic since i didn’t think i’d be playing nh for 600 hrs ;; based off of my native fruit peaches, but i’m resetting soon so i’m probably naming it after osaka or kerokeroppi

my island is.. "Myn Isla" -- which is very literally just from 'mine island'
i couldn't think of a name and i thought of it as a joke... but it sort of stuck 'w');;;

i used up a full journal page with my thought process from a few weeks before acnh came out ywy);;

I named my island Glimmer after the world in Spyro 2 which is my favorite out of the original trilogy it's the first world you visit when you start the game.

I used to have a weird obsession with turtles (hence my username) so I named my New Leaf town Tortuga (Spanish for turtle) and I just loved it so I made my island La Tortuga so it's a little different. I wanted to do Isla de Tortuga but it didn't fit.

Medfield is the name of a fictional town a bunch of old live action Disney movies are set in (The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, The Absent Minded Professor, The Shaggy D.A etc.) all of which I love! That being said, it has no connection to what my island actually looks like, it's just named after it.

I named mine Caramel since that was the same time as my New Leaf town and I still like the name of it.

I thought I'd try to get a name from a game that is underrated. Going down that path, not a lot of people would have the same island name as mine. I chose Aurelia which is a fictional country from Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception. I have the game and I had a lot of fun playing it when I was younger.

I named mine Momo because it’s the Japanese word for peaches, and my cousins have a black cat named Momo… my native fruit is oranges lol. Someone asked if I named my island after the Momo Challenge on discord though

Mimosa, or the shame plant, is super cool to me! I love its flower, because it reminds me of an anemone, with little tendrils everywhere.
And Bay just fit the amount of letters I had left, over Isle or anything, haha.

Also, mimosas are a tropical kinda drink, so it kinda works.

i named mine sun hill after the fictional london borough one of my favorite characters is from.
was originally going to name my player after her (sally) too but ended up going with my oc, claire, instead.

Not as creative, but I like the color green and I find minerals super interesting, therefore, Emerald was born. At one point in time, Emerald literally meant (green gem lol).

I named by town after a city from a video game, specifically Final Fantasy XV, but now I'm kind of regretting the name because I completely forgot about Final Fantasy VII remake and the cool themes I could make with the name "Midgar". Heck I could even make a sub section in the town that is more modern and call it Neo Midgar. The wasted potential 😭

Anyways I might follow that dream and start a second save in my switch lite, but only time will tell.

I went with Seaside because it was my favorite Freerealms map!! c:
