How close to real life is your in-game villager avatar?

My character and I are almost identical; we even share our names lol. But there are a couple of differences. My character doesn’t have the same glasses as me, although the frames are similar. I also don’t have as many cute clothes, and I wear way more skirts in the game than I would in real life. I wish the plushie muffler coat and poncho coat were in my real wardrobe 🥺

So possibly I am completely alone in this but for as long as I have been playing the various animal crossing titles I have always played with a male avatar character despite being female myself. Sometimes he is modelled on another fictional character from TV/ Movies/ Games but he is normally always male. When I started new horizons I contemplated briefly starting with a female character but I can't say that I particularly want to model a character on myself!? This time I used my Emmsey username as the character name (I'm known as Emm in real life) but this was a first for a character to have any relation to me in real life.

It just got me thinking how close to real life is everyone else's in game character? A lot of my AC friends villagers mirror them as much as possible with the confines of the game down to the hair colour. What they would normally wear and that kind of thing.

Personally, I usually never use "myself" as the avatar since most times, I am constantly changing my avatar's look every time lol

Sometimes I do use myself as close as I can get it, but most times, they are pretty much random haha.

My AC rep honestly looks better than I do irl xD
I've always wanted the freedom of not having to wear glasses and change up my hairstyle/hair color so I'm glad I can do that in AC whenever I want :3

My character has had white hair and blue eyes since New Leaf (my first AC game) which is nothing like me because I have brown hair and brown eyes. I'm not really sure why it stuck, but the eyes I were given in NL looked creepy brown (they were the round ones with eyelashes on the bottom). I grew to like them and have used them on every character I created since but only if they are blue. The white hair just seems to compliment the eye color, I guess. I hate that the white hair in New Horizons looks more gray, since I look kinda like an old woman...

tbh my character is super different from how i am irl! right now my character is dressed up as yotsuba (a manga character) but if im not dressing up as her, my character's fashion sense is way better than mine irl lol mainly bc i just wear black clothes and hoodies irl while my character's outfits are mostly bright and peppy

my avatar is similar to me: female, green eyes (although mine are more blue/green hazel) brown hair, freckles. But that’s it. She’s me but not really. I always use Melody as a character name because River Song(Melody Pond) is my favorite Doctor Who character.

I try to make it close, I dont wear in terms of clothes that similar things but its always fun to try out all the different and new clothes!

I try to make her look like me but I wouldn’t say my ac character looks like me.. my AC rep is definitely better looking than me🤣 it’s the eyes I’ve chosen they make her look so pretty whereas in real life I look like a potato. However that being said I use the same hairstyle as I do irl and I’ve even put glasses on my character..

The funny part? I once took my glasses off at a trade (in game ofc) as a girl said she would like to catalog them but I just said she could have them and that I could reorder but I honestly felt like my character looked so odd? And that’s funny to me cause that’s how I feel in real life, if I don’t have my glasses on I don’t feel like me! It’s so strange🤣

Somewhat close I'd say 0:
I tried my best with the limited options we're given for face customization lol

Not at all, I play games to escape reality for a bit. So make my character look cool to me, rather than like me

I tried my best to make it look like me, but the hair and eyes are lacking options to actually represent me.

When I first played an Animal Crossing I was a little kid so I made myself and when Kap'n asked where I was going and there was only one answer in my mind, the actual town I lived in. I still make myself but I'll often change it up a bit like in New Leaf my mayor had purple hair.

Hmm.. My eyes are brownish and my hair is black and long especially now that we're still in quarantine so yes, my island rep resembles me a little bit. I probably don't smile a lot though.

She sort of looks like me except I don’t have a bunny tooth. I have very long hair irl longer than the in game hair and it’s very dark almost black. I want to dye it purple but It’s too dark for me to bother with irl. So it’s purple in game, but I usually cover it in a hood anyway because I don’t like how the hair looks.

i constantly dye my hair so my villager’s hair color changes every month lolol this month is pink

My character is supposed to be me so yeah pretty close. The face and hair look similar but my island rep probably is a shade darker than what I am right now. I figured my character would have a tan during the summer, while I'm actually cooped up at home because of covid and monsoon season so I barely see sun 😅 I wouldn't dress the way I dress my character in real life though. I like to make my character wear dresses and other funky outfits in the game but in real life I don't even own a dress or a skirt and my fashion sense is quite plain and minimalistic.

It's not even close at all! :ROFLMAO:

I find it admirable for people to design their characters based from themselves.

Hm, it's hard to describe. I didn't pay attention to details apart from skin, hair and eye color when I created New Horizons Amy. I used the same eye shape that I chose in New Leaf and just picked a hairstyle that I found cute while my own hair has "quarantine length"... 😅

It's hard to describe. I think Amy kinda reflects the way I act/behave towards others more than the way I dress or look. 🤔
Or the way *I would* dress if I had such a ridiculously huge amount of clothes to choose from, haha...

My character is not a real life representation of me. It's more a portrayal of how I wish I could be in real life, lol. Got the pink updo hair, wardrobe taking up way too much of my storage, and it would be amazing to walk around in real life as my in game persona.
