How bad are your villager's homes?

All of my Villagers have lost some things due to vague trips to the Re-tail. I like to give them back the items they sold in Re-tail whenever they ask for new stuff.
Marshal's kept mostly original with the items on his table changed.
On the other end of the spectrum however, O'Hare is the worst in my Village. Three shirts, a Kayak (Which he refuses to sell), and barely enough room to walk around in.

XD. That's terrible. I'm guessing the kayak is where he sleeps?

I remember someone mentioning on Reddit how they gave Charlise moray eels every time she requested furniture until her house was filled with them. I hope they were telling the truth, because it sounds hilarious.

Most likely since every time I've given him some sort of bed he's sold that off and the Kayak remains. I wonder about that rabbit.

Pretty terrible, as I've have most villagers for a long time. They used to be worse though, as I never used to care about the stuff I gave them. So, many of their houses consisted of unwanted Balloon set furniture. D:

I give them whatever they want. Their houses are all a mess, but oh, well. lol.

My villagers often have dinosaur fossils in their houses because I sell those at Re-tail for 8,000 bells each. I also sell random furniture at Re-Tail. They buy that, too.

I used to send them lots of furniture in letters for fun, but I got tired of writing all of those letters so I stopped.

Julian in my old town, I gave him random lovely stuff, and a weird fossil and a ranch dresser. >.<
I ruined Peanut's house, She has a balloon bed and Modern sofa. I hate Nana's room, she's gone now. When I got Nana, her room was far from original. So, it looked like mess. I gave her random pink stuff but she never invited me to her room so I don't know how it looked.

I don't particularly care. I know the way it's done is pretty random but I like to think of it as their personalities showing through, with what sort of items and clothes they like if given the chance. I'm not as picky with the villagers I plan on keeping though I'll also spam them with gifts that would look cool and try to keep it looking relatively nice. I'm still trying to figure out how to get them to get rid of having so many clothes displayed, especially ugly clothes that wouldn't suit them at all and which they never wear... I'd send them chairs but I'm afraid they'll just swap them out with the clothes I do like on them.

With the rest of them, their houses are relatively intact. I haven't compared them to the originals very much and don't bother checking up on them a lot but I think the differences are very minor, if there are any. This is because I wouldn't want whoever got them next to get a completely ruined house. I don't do anything in particular to keep it that way, I'm just lazy and bad at finding things, deny some trade requests, and have swapped out the stuff in Re-Tail with overpriced food. I do agree to certain requests from some of them if I think it would be fun but that's about it.

I actually kind of want to make the homes of the ones I plan on keeping more personal and change up their usual themes but I suspect I'd probably just end up ruining everything completely.

I try to keep my villagers houses as original as possible, and it can be really frustrating haha. Zell has a funky house, though he replaced his 2 stools with t-shirts.. okay sent one stool, that replaced a tee.. sent another tee.. and it replaced the original stool I sent him haha. No idea why they have to display t-shirts gah.

Flora's house is the worse I think, some of her stuff has gone and she replaced something with a gas pump gah.. doesn't fit with all the pink, Flora!

I keep overpriced peaches in retail to stop villager sticking their furniture in bah.

Though at least it isn't as bad as in WW where they're houses would end up really really empty ahah.

Plus, some of the furniture choices are just cute/funny. I love that Lolly has a bench press in her little cutesy house. I can't really be bothered to micromanage villager interiors to any significant extent. I'm running a town, not curating a museum.

I think Muffy has the worst house in my town. There's nothing in it besides a table with a fish on top and a shirt. I tried sending some of her furniture back to her, but it just ends up in retail a few days later.

Colton's house is definitely the worst in my village and has been forever. It's filled with a mixture of bugs, bones, space/robot/regal type furniture and all the shirts I've sent him trying to get him to change out of that hideous fall shirt. There's no way I could ever be bothered trying to keep them original though, I kinda like giving them them random crap as well, it makes me laugh giving them toilets and stuff lol.

Let's just say their houses... are down to the bare bones.
I push them towards fossils in Re-tail.

Why do people hate the bug and fish tanks in the villagers' houses so much? I can understand why they'd hate it if they take over the whole house (though I'd find it funny more than anything) but if it's just a tank on a table or something? I think it's cute and see it as the villagers owning pets.

You can prevent that by swapping out all the things in Re-Tail with fruit (or shells, fish, whatever strikes your fancy) priced at 999,999. Gift those items to Muffy, and she won't be able to put it in Re-Tail since usually nobody buys the overpriced fruit.

Coco's house is the ugliest house I have ever seen. All my others, save from Wart Jr. and Flo (I don't pamper them), are terrible, too. Even Tangy's house, which I vowed to keep decent, has changed for the worse. vmv
