Since ToTT recently went on sale in the eShop, I was thinking about getting it. I looked up some professional reviews and saw that a lot of them were negative or neutral, so I wanted to ask you guys what you thought of it. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a huge HM fan or anything, but I've played quite a few games in the series and have enjoyed them, so that's not really an issue here-- it's more of a "is it worth it" thing.

Thanks, guys.

I enjoyed the game, but I didn't like the fact that it freezes so much when you ride your horse across the mountains. And it freezes so that you have to lose progress of what you've done because you're forced to hit the home button and quit

I've also been wondering if its worth it, Also i've been wondering if I should get SoS instead?

I forgot about SoS when I made this topic lol, but I remembered it afterward. I'll probably just save my money for now and get SoS when it comes out.

This is kind of why I don't want to get it lol. I heard that the eShop 2013 version doesn't freeze, but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Hopefully XSeed does a better job of localizing SoS than Natsume has done in the past.

Yeah, it's not worth it. It freezes a lot. SoS will be better. I'm planning to preorder that game. xD

I second getting the DS version since it's the version I played and I had no problems at all.

The game is pretty good. I still think Mineral Town is better, but ToTT kept me playing longer than IoH/SI/GB. The alpacas are cute and I love the new pet features, they're really helpful. The two town gimmick is interesting, it might be troubling cause you have to travel back and forth before you unlock the tunnel but I thought it made the game more fun cause you have more to do.

Overall it's a good game if you're a HM fan :)

Lol now I'm conflicted.

I'd buy the DS version if it weren't like $16 used at GameStop-- the eShop version is $10, and I already have $3 on there, so I wouldn't have to pay very much to get the game. How is it compared to Tree of Tranquility? I think that was the last new HM game I played, and while it was fun, the plot felt kind of restricting.

Ok ToTT is the second game I bought for the 3ds and I liked it a lot however I haven't played it in a year or two now so I can't give you a decent review from what I remember. BUT in regards to the freezing issue (which only the 3ds version had I believe) I found that it seemed to be caused by engaging in the 'animal petting' minigame that was added to raise affection with your livestock. Before, my game liked to freeze a lot when I was crossing the mountain, but after I stopped doing the minigame it didn't freeze at all - or so infrequently that I don't remember any freezes after that.

Anyway if you're looking for a 3ds HM I also recommend A New Beginning. Bigger than ToTT and no bugs that I'm aware of.

I bought the game this morning, and so far, I really like it! I haven't experienced any freezing so far, so hopefully it stays that way.

Thanks for your help, guys!

I played it on the DS: imported it from America, and paid almost as much in import tax as I did for the game itself. I played it obsessively for a week or two then never touched it again. What a waste. It doesn't rank highly on my HM list.

I thought it was a good game, good bachelors, and it was fun. But it wasn't the best, some of it was very difficult, crossing the mountain took forever and there is no way to really unlock the tunnel until you beat most of the game. Plus if you liked a bachelor in the other town you would have to ride across the mountain to see them. Unlocking some bachelor's was kind of confusing and getting updated tools and other things were iffy. What I really liked was that you could do requests for people and they put them on the board, but without a horse or the goddess pendant you would spend most of your day on that mountain.

Yup! It's actually one of my favorite HM games. And I'm actually still playing it when I beat whatever game im playing. Like I always find myself back to this game. I got new beginning and I think I like tott a lot more, except i think i like how you can choose from so many cute and awesome bachelors in anb but in tott i only had my eyes on cam. Anyway it's really worth the current price tbh
