Just to clarify, hiatus is when you take a long break from something you've been working on.

Have you ever had a hiatus? Do you have any tricks to stop yourself from having one? Is it bad if I had one? Most importantly, what the worst that has ever happened from you from going on a hiatus? Thx! :3

Have you ever had a hiatus? : Several Times
Do you have any tricks to stop yourself from having one? : Take a day off or two, or change it up each time you play.
Is it bad if I had one? : Depends on you and what you do. Some people lose villagers.
Most importantly, what the worst that has ever happened from you from going on a hiatus? : Loosing villagers, town becomes a mess.

Yes, several times.

I don't have any because it doesn't bother me. I've been on hiatus because of being busy or because I needed a break from the game, it's not a big deal.

Is it bad if I had one?

No. It's just a game, you're not forced to play it every day.

It's only "bad" because going on hiatus can cause things like weeds, bed hair, and losing villagers. You can prevent lots of trouble using the Beautiful Town ordinance (your flowers won't die and you'll have fewer weeds and trash), fixing bed hair takes just a trip to Shampoodle's, and I wrote a guide on how to avoid losing villagers if you need help: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showt...ot-Lose-Villagers-When-You-re-Away&highlight=

Nothing so far (other than weeds and my villagers being angry) because I try to be careful when I return to the game and everything other than losing villagers is easy for me to fix.

The worst that's happened to me has been missing some holidays and having to wait another year or two to finally play them (I don't like to TT to play a holiday unless I don't finish on that day).

Thx everyone! Now I feel better about it. I was scared about going on my 3rd hiatus because each time I do, I restart when I come back and I got 5 of my dreamies in my town
Edit: lolly just moved out 5 days ago, so 4 :/

I'm actually trying to put two of my towns on hiatus right now, but only one of them is (and I've been trying for a few days, ugh.) I'm only going to keep one town off hiatus for a while, just because I'm starting to kind of get annoyed with my games and I have other games I want to play that AC is preventing me from (unless I want to lose my villagers while I'm gone).

The whole mechanic of villagers moving out when you don't play is starting to really make me angry, because it forces you to play if you want to or not, unless you want to wake up one day and see your favorites gone. I just...need a break from it for a while, to play other games. I've been trying to play the new Fire Emblem and I have been, but I haven't been checking my towns for move-outs as much as I used to and I'm still worried about losing my favorite villagers. It's kind of stressful? Hehe. So I need a hiatus from two towns, maybe all three if I get to that point.

I've had a hiatus twice xD or i'm not even sure if i can call them that. when i play animal crossing its either nonstop for a few weeks or never xD i played a crap ton last summer, then i didn't touch the game untill september, then i didnt touch it untill now in february (currently playing 24\7 because i have a problem)

nothing bad has really happened, i have actually never lost a villager when i've been on hiatus, its just that the villagers are kinda sad when you talk to them because they're like "where have you been" and stuff. also weeds and **** everywhere D;

You don't need to restart your town each time, especially if you got 5 dreamies during a restart. Just get a villager to ask you to move and then say no on the last day before you stop playing or use the 3DS clock to go back to the day you last played when you come back so you can do that. I explain it in more detail in the guide I linked. The feature where you can lose villagers if you go on hiatus sucks, I wish they'd let you switch on a hiatus feature or something.
