My house is almost completely upgraded and I've got furniture series in each room. Yet I seem to be stuck at the 47,000 - 48,000 pts level. I once got a 50,024 pts score, but then I moved something and it dropped the next day. How do I break that barrier and raise my score? It's a little frustrating.

The full series in each room? That's kind of weird. I only have one full series and I'm scoring 90,000+ I think. Maybe toss a bunch of rare items in there instead (Katie stuff, bug stuff, etc.)

Maybe that's problem. I haven't gotten all the pieces for each series yet. I'm missing like 1-3 pieces from each one.

Yeah, it has to be a full series of furniture for you to get a lot of points.

Make sure all your furniture series are full sets and use good feng shui http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Feng_Shui

I agree, full sets are the most important thing! Most sets have 11 items, AND the wallpaper and flooring. At minimum your full set will be scoring at least 20,000 points.

^ that link has the point worth per each individual item*. Some of the rarer items (items from Gulliver, Katie etc.) innately have a higher point value than something you might find regularly at Timmy and Tommy's.

*edit: you'll have to scroll down to "56) HAPPY HOME ACADEMY" to see a list.
Also, edited some wording because I grammar good. /s

I had about 55000 points, started refurbishing my rococo sofa, left it at Re-Tail, and the next morning I only had 28555 or something.

I've never done anything about feng shui because i've never known how to make it look good with all the colors, but full series is definitely the way to go, villager pictures too! I'm at ~169000, with just a left room expansion left after i pay off my basement expansion!

If you refurbish something does it's color value change? (i.e.- the classic sofa is yellow, so if I refurbish it to brown will I still get feng shui points if it's on a yellow space?)

I, with the face, have a score of 99,792 points. I only have 1 completed set and 1 almost completed set. I have a bunch of dlc's & rares out though. I also seem to have at least some feng shui on the go. (I have all the rooms but only my basement and main room are fully expanded.)

Oh and Lyle just reminded me, keep your floors clear or debris. If you gotta toss something in your room, toss it on a table. Might even get you points instead.)

Can someone please explain the seasonal ingredients to me? I don't get that one.

I think it does change it, because I had my regal wardrobe refurbished to green, and every now and then Lyle will comment on my green wardrobe being in the right place. Of course it's also in the corner next to yellow, but he specifically says "green".

Oh and to go with stuff on the floor, you have to have all your furniture facing the right way. It can't face a wall. Which is annoying as it doesn't know which way a mic on a stand should face. >.>

Certain seasonal items will give you a bonus if you have it out in your house (but only during that specific time, e.g. a birthday table will give you 5000* extra points on your birthday ONLY). http://www.thonky.com/animal-crossing-new-leaf/happy-home-academy/ has a nice little chart you can refer to.

*edit: can't find my source for that number. xD

Here's a few tips I've learnt:
-Don't have balloons in your house
-Have the 5 essentials in a room: Bed, table, chair, drawers and a dresser. More points for the same set!
-Have yellow items on the west.
-Have one main colour throughout the room. Yellow items ignore this rule.
-Use seasonal items. This months item is any kind of cicada bug.
-The number lamps give lots of points.
-'Lucky' items give 7777 points each!

This month's lucky item is a firework. I have one in my main room and it made my score skyrocket to over 90k.

Hrm, do the pieces in a set have to be in the same room? Or can they be spread throughout different rooms?
